Trying to get back into MC and have some questions about Meep

I am trying to get back into MC and have some questions about meep as I am getting to play more to keep my town from falling due to inactivity due to IRL...again...again, again.


1. As I am refusing to beg etc for stuff as my mega farm town plan is my responsibility I have to know, is there a free and easy source of sea lanterns somewhere that's available for everyone? Ie somewhere me and my alt could afk safely and collect sea lantern pieces for my mega farm? I was going to build my own 1.2 years ago but while I was in public highschool hell the beta town I was in and was building it sort of fell and I am not sure what became of the pit I dug for the guardian farm.


2 Due to me spending so little time on the server over the course of the past 2 years my understanding of what's going on in meep is very small, please correct these if I am wrong:

The meep economy is stagnant due to everyone pretty much having everything that they need. And all the previous ways of making money steadily ie enchanted books are useless again, due to everyone having what they need/it being too easily accessible, even diamonds.

There is a smaller player base than before

Little is getting done for unknown reasons (Idk why, you guys surely do)

3 What major thing is even going on in meep or is planning on being implemented in it? I know I miss infected, but there's no reports of that being worked on in months/weeks

I have an automatic, AFK, Guardian grinder. You stand on the middle plot and all of the pieces (including shards, crystals,raw fish, and ink sacs) collect down into several chests.

I'll admit stuff is worth less but I as well as others can easily make a lot of money still.

This is true, partially because we aren't currently getting new players to stay and partially because lots of people are leaving due to the slowness of some stuff, see below.
And then there's the fact that minecraft is a dying game altogether, it's lost a lot of popularity and hype so not as many people in general play it.

Little is/was getting done but they did just hire two new people as techs for the server. Meep got a lot worse but now I think it's on the rise again.
