Towny Lag

I do not know if it is just me but the lag in towny is getting very annoying.
I just came back to the server meaning I have been building a lot to create a new base and every god damm block I break, gets placed again. This should be adressed soon. Pleas tell me if you are also having this problem.

Yeah lag in towny is worse than it usually is.

 

I had brought a friend on today and he quit because it was so laggy.

Oh boy.
This is because certain people like pwarp colors/anything epixaid owns have super laggy areas, and don't consider the performance drag. Stop spamming item frames. Use fence gates instead of signs. Proud to say /pwarps grind, cards, and sell all use minimally laggy designs. Put droppers over your hoppers you don't need 800 armor stands or 243384 banners in one chunk. Make autofarms that don't suck or just don't make autofarms. (on a side note, if you DO have autofarms you should definitely try to do this because the faster the tps, the faster you get money)

 

i dont even think the game would let this happen, on the bedrock version it caps the amount of entities in one chunk. and the entity cramming wouldn't allow that many in a 16x16 space

We can't accurately make suggestions to fix lag if we don't know what breaking it. Sadly only OP console access personal can determine this and I doubt anyone is actually doing it. Lag is most likely due to some plugin conflict that would need to be resolved, as there are larger player base servers that do not have this issue.

 

The redo of Meep's API should help. No major changes should be made in my opinion until after 1.13 is released -- lots of game changing and operational technical changes coming, game wise.

At the end of the day, the reality is that the server simply needs an upgrade. Plugins and how things operate is one thing, but when the gameplay is reduced to 7, 6, 5 TPS or less there is a clear problem (designed for 20).

The reason for the server lag overall is the staff downgrading the server servers so we can keep the server up while staying within our budget. For now lag will be fluctuating but If i were you i would move to like the wall of towny and just relax

 

It's far too expensive to purchase equipment in order to build servers. So it's rented instead. Less advanced physical components = lower rental costs.

 

I disagree with that statement! I don't' know what meep's current servers are but, I know for a fact for ~ $125 =dollar a month you can rent a great set of hardware (its what I had and TPS was never below 19.4 TPS (spikes) with 60 players with average TPS at 19.99, and server was online for months at a time with no reboots!

I would be interested to know meep's current hardware/hosting package which I might be able to recommend suggestions and/or assist in getting some proper hardware setup.

This is more than affordable for Meep in my opinion: Dedicated servers - Product details - OVH If meep has something like this or better, then it is clearly a PLUGIN CODING issue and not the hardware. If it's better then this, then its surely a plugin problem!

Of course, we also don't know what the price is for a server like meep to keep up is but really, ranks being sold are the only thing keeping the server alive, at least in my opinion. And something I kinda see from clue's point that equipment is expensive enough (if u do decide to bring fuzzlr's wealth into this though, gl with it cus the man won't do much xd). Plugins would probably be easier to handle, but lets say thats not the case for the lag. If you'd like, however, you could always donate to the cause. Its not a bad option. But, then again. There are some things that could float in one's mind that make one regret the decision. But lets not get into it.

 

That the whole point of my post, it would be nice to know what is being paid because base on current performance I doubt its more than $40 a month currently. Or if meep is playing more then the $125, they are getting ripped off for some crapy hardware. The hardware I suggest should easily be able to handle up to 300 players.

Incorrect, over the last 45 days $3,200 dollars have been donated to the server. Let's take away $1,200 for shits and giggles of that that still means $2,000 in the past 45 days which averages to $1,250 a month in donations I would estimate. Now, perhaps for the previous 12 months things where not that great but things seem fine to me currently, at minimum (unless fuzzlr blew on the money on some new shoes) that would leave Meepcrafts current PayPal balance enough to pay for the server package I suggested for the next year, with plenty of change left over to buy some shoes!

No this is not easier! This takes skill, money, and time, which meep does not have enough of. Simply upgrading the servers would fix the issues much faster and cheaper!
