Town Expansion

Just for conversation, does anyone else get frustrated to see another town expanding within viewing range of your town. I understand its only a 3 plot rule, so its legal, its just frustrating.

DreamCraft personally has a themed appearance. The entire town has its own unique look and its easy to notice when things are out of place. This being said, a neighboring town is in view of DC and is 100% a different look.

I would like to make it clear that this is NOT a complaint thread. I would just like to hear the thoughts of other or if you too might be facing a similar situation.

Let's converse.

 

It's annoying, especially for those who have themed towns (such as your's, or even mine, freyview), but I find not caring is a much easier option. It is 3 plots away, it's not a huge deal.

 

I have a nice town built on a few mountains and Coolmaxx purposely claimed a plot 3 plots away and destroyed it and built cobble towers and ruined the view

 

someone claimed a town next to mine, got like 200 plots around my town then it fell a few months after. And who's going to clear it? me...

 

That's purposefully defacing... which is illegal...

 

VKL, any plot claimed and altered with the intent to devalue another town is illegal. You can get that handled and either Coolmaxx will have to fix it or an admin will.

It can definitely ruin a great theme. But on the other hand it's awesome to see residents of 2 towns playing together and being able to just walk between towns.

DC has very distinct borders though. Maybe you guys can set up a "Now leaving Dreamcraft, Have a great day" type of sign on your exit ways. Hopefully that can help contrast between the two towns.

 

Great thinking, Del! Its not really an issue as of yet, but will consider doing that anyways! As Neil said above, player move in with their towns, either leave the server or are unable to find a good way to make money (kinda silly really) so they lose the town and there it sits either being an eye sore or too close for you to expand in the direction you wish to..

Again this isn't a complaint thread, I was just curious as to others' opinions on the topic.

Even if it is I'm sorry. I play with the lowest settings and with render 2, I can't see that far. The overhang to /pwarp outlet doesn't look the greatest from the back (didn't expect anyone to go back there). Also the one guy, with those really ugly skyscraper things will be kicked for inactivity soon and replaced with pre-builds.

 

It is annoying I agree. Espicially for themed towns. I myself don't in p[articular have a themed town, but silverwing is about 100 blocks away and it looks ugly in my opinion. Its just unorganized. Then again that makes our town look a lot better

 

I'm not one to say that any town is ugly. Some I may not agree with materials being used together or too much of one material, or maybe it seems disorganized.. but you never know what they see. Maybe it is a difference in texture packs, maybe its the fact that I can fly and see it and they cant, or maybe it really does need a bit of work... whichever. Everyone views their town as a work of art. They paid for it one way or the other and are designing it/creating it the way they see is beautiful. My thoughts were relying on the fact that 2 towns may not match/go with each other. For instance, DreamCraft is on a plateau, a taller stance. Goes with the terrain. Others prefer to flatten their template. DreamCraft stuck with a theme, a certain few materials, and a "general" structure. Others are free to build however you want with whatever you want and however you want it. Both are great! Its just that when these two very different towns are close together, it doesn't look as nice to throw off a theme from others not in the same theme but still in view. (Not saying the town is not nice, but it doesn't make your town quite as nice when the theme is thrown off).

Pmx, no need to be sorry, its all good. A giant part of it is the plots of the other town that are unclaimed but still connected to what they kept, so cleanup would be risky and not really worth it. DreamCraft is friendly, no worries
