Titles and Voting

I am suggesting that we add premade titles that go before the rank tag, and can be bought through the server shop, or be earned as a result of voting. In addition, voting will give 500 meebles per site (instead of 1000 per site) and the voting key rate will be halved (so 2 keys per day would be ideal). Final part of this suggestion. A "key" of sorts will be added to the vote crate, 1% odds. This key can be used to purchase one of the premade titles that will be implemented if this suggestion is accepted.


...and now onto why this should be accepted.

I'll start with voting, and why the amount per day and vote key rate should be dropped. Currently, at 1k a day, people can buy a god pickaxe and half a diamond armor set, along with some food and blocks - for doing practically nothing. Now, from a server standpoint where we want people to vote for the server, a meeble reward is ideal - which is why I'm not suggesting we remove it, just lower it so it doesn't allow people to just vote instead of actually play on the server. Now, the /warp crate system is already a good enough incentive to get players to vote for the server, and the meeble payment just helps to further push people to vote. But, with players getting 1-2 keys per vote, the value and worth of these keys that unlock overpowered items, is going down. By making the keys more rare, and adding premade titles to the vote crate, we give the voting keys more value, AND give people more incentive to vote for the server.

Next, I'll go into what needs to be made by techs for such a suggestion to be implemented.

• First, a custom vote key needs to be added to /warp crate 's voting crate
• Second, a command that pulls up a gui, with title suggestions must be made
• Next, a plugin must be made that links the selection from the gui, to a title that appears before the player's name
• Additionally, another option in the gui should open a second page, which would allow players to choose the color of their title
• Finally, another section should be added to the server shop to promote more people donating to the server

I believe that sums up the suggestion, why we should implement it, and what it entails coding wise.

To continue, I will brainstorm some premade titles that could be implemented, so that this requires the minimum effort for implementation. These are open to changes and suggestions:

Now I will address somethings I believe I forgot to address.

Players can only have one title active at once. Colors will be completely free, and every color should be allowed. This will become almost as common as the other text prefixes we have in chat (such as the "(G/WORLD)[Rank]Name: ...." So it would not further spam chat, than the server already spams chat

Instead, the names would look like:
(G/WORLD)[Premade Title][Rank]Name: ...

This also leaves room for new titles that a particular owner may like to see around the server.

+1 on titles but it may be to much of a hassle to implement

 

-1 on the entire idea, I think it would be too confusing to have titles before names before ranks, and everybody's happy with 4k and 4 vote keys a day.

 

Definite +1 on this, maybe players can set a custom title with Supreme though? (thus giving making supreme more attractive) in addition to a key. I like the idea of nerfing voting too, as in my opinion it's kind of breaking the economy (I earned 39k from voting today)

A players tag, rank and name will fill up one line of text gee golly.

 

Adding another 7 characters isn’t going to make a vast difference from the text things we already have.

I don't care much for the titles thing but if people like it then go for it. As long as it is rare enough that it really stands out if a player does have a title and not drowned out by every 2nd player having one.

As for the voting being nerfed, I agree. 4k per day is fine but armor, tools and meeble prize chances need to be decreased as well as the amount of vote keys received but things like haste, feed and fly should increase. Getting a vote key should be exciting and not a guarantee.

Disguises need to go, I'd take a lump of coal over a disguise as I can at least use it. Replace them with either practical items or collectible heads/banners.

 

I had the same idea a while back, but here is my perspective.

Have the custom tag replace the rank tag.

So, instead of [Arch] alex77034: what

It’d be: [What] alex77034: what

However, the tag would be the same color as the player’s rank, so people would know what rank they are.

I think this would be better because it’d still follow most of the idea but would reduce spam and chat confusion. No crazy colors, no lengthy player names.

+1 to the main idea, though.

About the rarity of vote keys, I think it is a dumb idea for players to receive one for every time they vote. A vote key should be a prize and a gift, not a common occurence. The more vote keys, the more chances of people getting the crate loot, which leads to a larger quantity of the loot, which leads to a loss in value, and ultimately a lost hope at an attempt to make more people vote for the server. It’s like gambaling; the moment you earn too much money they kick you out, because they don’t want to start loosing cash. Winning at a casino is possible, but unlikely, and that keeps people there so that there’s an incentive to earn and try to win.

 

For simple titles, it seems like a big hassle.

I personally support recommend taking out crappy prizes and making vote keys rarer. That way, you actually feel rewarded with your prize, but only IF you get a key.

 

What if it worked like town or nation tags?

 

Agreed.

Chat is too colorful already... It's not uncommon to see all orange / aqua chat in global coming from Ultimates and Staff. Not to mention the clutter that would make chat speed by even faster.
Would be a waste of time that could be better spent fixing broken parts of the server.
