    Hey all,

It is of great annoyance that eventually after 1 or 2 weeks of inactivity, or that sometimes a resident might have a low bal and forget about it that they get automatically kicked from the town. I believe town mayors should have an option to chose the following:

•No automatic kicks due to a resident not being able to pay tax
•A kick for not being able to pay tax after a certain period
    Or....
•A new system where a resident can do a command saying how long they will be absent for.
•Taxes could be collected in advance, for example in a town with 100 tax a resident could pay 1k for 10 days.
•A certain tax paying res could be exempt while they are on holiday?

I stress, an option to remove auto-kicks. Not remove auto-kicks all together but to give mayors an option to either auto-kick or not.

While automation would be really nice, I don't think this is very high on the list of stuff that Meep needs to do, and, as staff often mention, messing with the towny plugin is hard. While there's nothing perfect to replace the first two bullet points you make, you can have no town tax and only plot tax, so residents who run out of money, while they lose their plots, don't get kicked.

You can also arrange to have a resident be vip for their period of absence, and manually pay in advance, which would be a manual version of the latter bullet points, though admittedly, more complicated.

Basically, the idea is good, but some of it is doable right now and the other stuff is, while cool, not at the top of the list of things Meep needs.

This is why most towns don't have a res tax, it's a good idea but I don't think the outcome would be worth it, just add a plot tax instead of having a res tax, or set them as a vip so they don't pay taxes

It's really simple to change the res tax to 0 to prevent auto-kicking of residents. -1

Just set your res tax to zero, I dont think its really priority or necessary.

I don't see anyone actually doing this. I remember in Peachstreet, it was the staff's greatest joy to raid random houses owned by cits who'd left after two weeks of players. Peachstreet survived off kicks like this.

(also editing towny is like defusing a time bomb blindfolded with a machete)

I understand your idea, but it is really not feasible for Meep on any level to invest the time or money into doing this when there are several options to your problem that already exist.

#1 - Don't charge a resident tax, and only charge a plot tax. Resedent tax will kick people from town with no money and a plot tax will keep them in town just kick them from the plot they own.

#2 - Change your resident tax from flat rate (100 meebles or whatever) to a % (say 1%) tax, that way it will never kick them (or will take 100 years) as technically you will never get to zero balance with a % tax.

#3 - Make a town rule that if they go AFK you can assign them the "TaxFree" rank so they will never get kicked.

One of these should solve the problem you are having.

    Enjoy,

That was my favorite part of being a Peachstreet assistant.

More proof of the unequal Peachstreet work ethic division between town staff. I thought you had learned something from helping run a town... Oh well.

This would mean people could store there meebles in gold and stay in the town for free.

Denied; simply have no res tax.
