So, earlier today, there seemed to be a large influx of new players joining. It seemed like a new one was joining every 2 minutes or so. Naturally, everyone was welcoming each one. After the first few joined, I decided to just camp there, waiting for the next one. Every single one of these would join, take a few steps, then log out. After this had gone on for at least fifteen minutes, I finally got one to speak to me. After I /msg'ed one, I received a message back telling me they were an alt. In fact, all of them were alts. Thirteen different accounts, to be precise. As we continued talking, he/she said, "This server is awesome. I joined on all 13 of my accounts, and was welcomed every time."

This is what makes Meep unique. The fact that each and every one of these alts was welcomed stands as a testament of how open the community is. Here's some tips and tricks everyone can do to create this feeling in everyone:

#1: Busy working on something or in the middle of a minigame? A simple /g Welcome! will do just fine. It honestly doesn't take much time, and can make all the difference. Little things like this seem small, but make a huge difference.

#2: Have the time to type, but still kinda busy? Welcome them by name! When it is more personal, it definately feels warmer. If you feel like it, you could even send them 1,000 Meebles if they talk in Global. 1,000 seems like such a minuscule amount, but the thought of a gift just makes anyone feel like they belong.

#3: Not very busy? Go to Tutorial yourself, and talk to them personally. Believe me, this can get very frustrating. 75% of noobies leave right away, so don't be supposed if they leave without saying a word. Instead of just typing their name, use the @IGN system to help get their attention. Again, be patient, they usually won't respond. If you manage to find one who responds, just talk to them. If you have taken the time to actually warp to Tutorial and actually talk to them, there's no point using something as simple as "Welcome to Meep!" If they actually respond, they can clearly communicate, so talk to them as you would anyone else. Show them the basic stuff, like /g and /msg, so they can at least ask more questions. If you have some stuff you need to do, wish them luck, and offer to help if they need it.

#4: Loads of time? Follow through with #3, and see it to the end. Once you're both wrapped up with Tutorial, offer to go with them to any world they want to try. I speak from experience when I say that it can be a lot of fun. Usually, if they know what the server has, you'll end up in KitPvP, Halo, or Towny. If you do end up in Towny, it's often best to get them a plot near your own. If you get them to Towny, and join your town, it doesn't end when they get a plot. It isn't "Okay, you have a plot now, have fun!" No, no, this is only the beginning. Again, this is just what I do, so modify the idea as needed, but take them to the various areas of your town, showing them how they can make money, and just giving them something to do. If they come back the next day, keep on chatting, because you've got a new friend!

Now, I don't mean to say this is "exactly how to get people to stay," because it's not. This is what works for me. It doesn't matter what you do, honestly. What makes the biggest difference of all is how everyone can do at least one of these four. By having people who always do at least one of these, it creates an atmosphere of warmth. The more we can do that, the better.

This is the largest things I emphasize on when players ask me 'what can I do to help Meep?' Yesterday was indeed one of the best days I have seen when it comes to welcoming players and it was great to see.
Thank you for making this thread!

I found this person in tutorial and we started talking, turns out we had alota things in common I quickly taught the important stuff in meepcraft, like town land /warp wild checking your balance tax etc. Eventually I got him to join my town and it's gone over great. I do like to spend time in tutorial and speak to the new players. Even if they don't respond it's fun to try xD.
