minecraft 1.14: the update aquatic

so at MINECON earth on saturday, Jens (jeb_) gave us some information on 1.14: the update aquatic! then following the show the java panel gave us some more info:

new features:
Mobs:
-the monster of the night sky
-fish
-dolphins
blocks:
-coral
-kelp
-wooden button, pressure plate, trap door, variants
Unconfirmed but "possibly" shown:
-smooth stone stairs
-"more slabs"

World gen:
-shipwrecks
-the bubble columns

items:
-the trident with some enchantments hinted:
-loyalty: this will make the trident return to you
-tidal wave: this will propel you forward in water and maybe even on land when raining
other: water physics
no more air pockets around things like slabs, fences, stairs, other things
items will float on the surface of the water
other: combat changes
the offhand will no longer be able to place blocks and it will only be able to effectively use:
shields, compasses, maps, arrows
other: the texture changes
you will be able to download the old textures in a resource pack on minecraft.net
other: fixes
-removed herobrine

more combat changes and nerfing the offhand? rip me. A lot of this sounds dumb and unnecessary

 

yep. I don't like it either

 

the trident sounds interesting but more like as a mod or something, not an ingame item

 

yea but depending on how to craft/obtain it and how much damage it does with the enchantments it could be the new god weapon.

 

maybe. I do like how it's meele/ranged though (so long as the ranged damage is low and the melee is high) I also really hope it can have the current enchantments such as sharpness and fire aspect or whatnot. We'll see.

 

it might be able to have both power and sharpness. but with the different damage, this is mojang here, the ranged and melee will probably do the same damage

xT3Kx ascended into the skies enraged by the call of his worshipers. He dove from the skies and smote Jeb into a pile of gently sizzling ashes, splattering Jeb all around the room. At Jeb's computer was a minecraft world which jeb had been playing. Jeb had clearly put massive amounts of work into his house, but T3k's fury was too great. With a noise louder than thunder, T3k released a thousand MegaStuffed Oreo souls into the world. They destroyed everything in sight, razing houses, farms, and villager's homes without mercy. T3k roared a might laugh at Jeb's pitiful existence. T3k flew off into the night sky, content he had satisfied his worshipers. That night, the sacrificial pit ran over with minecraft official foam diamond swords and gold bars, T3k became stronger than ever after the sacrifices, prepared to do his divine duties another day.
