    In case you all haven't seen, Mojang has decided to add a new mob to the game.

    So far, we have informaton on Mobs A, B, and C (D coming soon. Here's how to view info on the three so far.

    In my own opinion, C is the best possible option thus far (we'll see about D). B will be a literal nightmare to deal with on the server. It tracks players who don't sleep, and based on the info we have so far, uses air as spawning spaces. In order to optimize grinders, you need to block all the air blocks at high altitudes, making things like Skyblock swamped with swarms of these things coming at you (they spawn in packs). Imagine playing skyblock, were beds are nearly impossible to get, and then getting attacked by a horde of flying monsters with a large detection range.

    A might be interesting, and Minecraft's oceans have always been a bit bland. However, how often do people actually go into an ocean? I don't see it affecting much unless it drops something really useful.

    As for C, we have several confirmed features that are quite beneficial to a larger playerbase. They are stationary, but can burrow into blocks (either tunneling for you, or hiding inside blocks), works as a trash can (consumes mobs and items), and even works with enchantments (possibly removing cursed enchantments from your tools/armor?)

    well knockback makes it harder to kill the enemy. thorns acts like mining wood with a pickaxe it takes away 3 durability instead of 1. so a thorns 3 unbreaking 3 chestplate will only last 1/3 of an unenchanted one (real good use of xp, am I right?)

    in PvE, thorns kills you. But if you'd ever played UHC, or any other moderate-length pvp game, you'd know that thorns is extremely useful. Dealing damage when you get hit by an arrow is beyond overpowered. With thorns you can simply chug gaps or heal pots and quickly drain your opponent. Thorns can even be useful in longer pvp matches, if your first suit is thorns III and the other is blast or prot, you quickly drop them, maybe killing them before they can consume enough healing. Also remember that although your suit dies 3x as fast, your opponent's will drop twice as fast due to the thorns damage (plus if you're using fire aspect, thorns isn't what's killing your durability) I think all of these look pretty pointless, we'll see what D has to offer. B looks interesting but annoying. A looks exactly like a guardian imo. As of now, I'm for B. Minecraft is way too easy, and this looks difficult to fight. As long as it drops a useful item, sounds alright to me.

    Minecraft has always been an easy game, but I don't think a flying anti-afk monster will solve any issues. The air spawning spaces is a huge deal, because it will effectively ruin everyone's grinders because they'll hog the mob cap by swarming around a player who is inside a structure.

    A has an interesting attack, but there isn't enough content to be in oceans much nor do I imagine it being able to attack players which are riding boats.

    B is an interesting but controversial mob. I agree a lot with what @CluelessKlutz said. The idea of not being safe except indoors sounds annoying, especially on special gamemodes such as skyblock. The issue of the mob cap also exists. If careful, I believe Mojang can introduce this mob properly in a way which removes these annoying aspects.

    C has some unique abilities. I doubt it would be fully invisible to the player as Mojang is against not informing players (for example, with the removal of the killer bunny in survival mode). Depending on how it messes with enchanting, this mob could server some very useful purposes and change how people enchant. Players might go to their "Hunger" room to mess with a bow they just enchanted. The issue with this mob is its randomness. It might be useful for a second try on failed enchantments, but it can't be that useful for items which are already enchanted, as there will most likely be an aspect of randomness to its enchanting.

    In the end, I think C is the best mechanics wise and B the best for the survival aspect of the game. With enough work and thought, Mojang could make either of these work extremely well within the game without sacrificing the player's fun in any way.

    well everyone, today is the day. we shall wait for the reveal of Mob D and then we shall make our decision. if we can agree that one is better than the rest we should all try to vote the same thing but you don't need to vote with the crowd if you want.

    I think what this page does is create discussion, not consensus. It helps stop votes which miss important details, but we shouldn't just vote as a block.

    nether has plenty of mobs. As someone who's complained that MC is too easy for years, I'm gonna have to say mob B. Flying stuff has always sounded neat to me, and while they're going to be a bit annoying to fight (rip so many arrows) I think they'll be a good addition. Probably need to disable/insanely nerf them in skyblock though
