Hey guys. I'd just like to leave my two cents here as a veteran on the server.

The EULA basically slapped many Minecraft servers in the face and basically said, "We're Microsoft, we're lazy, give us $$ instead of server owners." Fuzzlr is no longer able to make profits, and as such, the whole donation rank system is destroyed, but there are other servers that are still utilizing the profits from the ranks previously distributed.

You can work your way around this system using in-game currency to buy ranks, for example. Using rank prices that can go up and down with the economy, /fly can be re-added. The ultimate rank or legend or whatever it's called now can be reinstated as well. There's no reason that people should pay 160$ extra for a command to be taken away. There are servers bigger than Meepcraft that have Spawner Changing (Again, in-game ranks) and fix, heal (non pvp), feed, smelt, but I'm not sure how the Meepcraft staff are handling things as I'm a bit out of the loop from not playing for a while.

Now that the spawn's been worked again, it's once again dissatisfying to many people. A big spawn, though pretty and professional looking with things hard to find, is hard for a child (5-8) to find their way around. I have little memory of the first spawn, but the second spawn seemed to do the trick with three large icons in front of spawn for minigames and the terrarium straight ahead with Towns and Wild on the left and right respectively. Today, it's hard for me to find my way around spawn with /fly. Why would a child do a tutorial to play a Minecraft server? I doubt most kids 5-8 are mature enough to stay on a commitment on an economy server. I've tried to bring many younger friends here; they'd rather play mini-games.

Which brings me to my next point.

    The server target group.
The problem with this is, kids enjoy mini-game servers, I'd agree. But Meepcraft is primarily a towny/eco server. The kids mature enough to play here can handle curses. The ones I've met that are younger were staff members like @JumboAce and @Highlanders3Ruth. I'm sure some fun can be thrown around without having to restrict a whole lot a chat. Racial slurs and sexual language should not be tolerated, however.

My final point is, our staff. When I was a staff member, they were like a second family to me. However, a family might be what some people would like to get away from. People play games to escape reality and enjoy themselves before having to go back to school or work (for the most part.) There's no reason to stress out about a game when new changes are being forced upon. Staff, in my opinion, should take more community input on both game changes and staff applications. There's no reason to have an application with all -1's be accepted for interview; it leads to controversy and jealousy for the applicant and distaste and dissatisfaction to the staff. In the past, the requirements to become staff were having x amount of posts on the forums and being registered for a certain time. There's no reason that we should have 2 week old staff members. Two months is a good time, in my opinion, to become staff.

EDIT: Fuzzlr, this will also shrink the economy you've been trying to shrink for oh so long. You can call Onis back and un-nerf everything if this goes through ;)

Right now, my name may cause controversy for both staff reasons and the content inside. Staff, feel free to cross-ip check me if you'd like. I'll even tell you who I am if you message me. However, I may not be able to respond immediately.

Thank you for reading, and I hope that these changes can go through.

You could easily have used a VPN.

And on the issue of ranks; it's far too long away for me to chargeback. I am not going to spend $80 on barely anything, which is what I essentially did. I'm pretty much only on the forums now. Blame it on monotony, whatever, but now that all the perks that made my experience better are gone, it's essentially over for me until Minecraft finds its spark in me again.

I'm not pressuring people to chargeback, that's awful both morally and financially. Minecraft is a game that's losing it's appeal towards teenagers in my opinion and is leaning towards a kid environment. However, kids for the most part aren't attracted this kind of stuff, so I'd still recommend Meep to stay a teenager geared server. As for you, I hope you come back sometime. We were friends.

I'm not quite sure why everyone seems to be so against this idea, nice to see someone else who thought of it. The very reason this is EULA compliant is it makes ranks themselves EULA-compliant, since they can be obtained using soft currency. Hard currency just gets you the rank faster.

This topic is very subjective to staff judgement. People should be allowed to discuss any topic, so long as it does not involve insulting, and degrading content. It is fine (in my opinion) for people to discuss and compare facts about the Nazis, so long as it is not being used to insult any members of the community, and carried out in a civilized manner.

Lmao that's not it at all. Mojang didn't want minecraft to turn into a pay 2 win (which it was) so they enacted these rules so you can't use your mom's credit card to be the very best on a server like no one ever was. Plus, they didn't want you to be able to sell their product on a server. Either way Mojang doesn't get any of the cash except for the $26 you gave when you bought the game.

I have to disagree. I think it depends on the server, truthfully. If you look at Meep's baltop, you'll notice those with the most money are the ones who have put the most time in.

Not saying it's just for meep, but all servers in general. As for meep, just having the ability to purchase meebles in the shop makes it a pay 2 win. You can pay for meebles to ultimately "win" the server. Sure you can get meebles without paying, but it is much harder than entering your mom's credit card info.

Actually, there was a whole section saying that "we're Microsoft, we own Mojang now and we are not obliged to perform maintenence or update the game." Truly bull.

The best way to look at this is just realizing that Microsoft is run by capitalists such as Bill Gates who makes money in his sleep.

I have read every comment and deducted that a lot of people think that Mojang did this just for money.Another group thinks that Mojang does't want Minecraft to be like a lot of MMOS where a paying player can be stronger than 50 free players.I'm not sure which I agree on I see both ideas. Of course Mojang wants to make money Bill Gates bought the company for (I think) 3.5 billion dollars. He must want to make it back plus profit just as any business man.I cannot read minds to see which one Mojang is doing ,but I see both sides equally.

First off, Minecraft is not a product made by Fuzzlr. The main reason why the EULA was changed is because of pay-to-win reasons, but I see it more as a copyright infringement. He was, and still is, making money off Minecraft through Meepcraft.
I can see a lot of concerns, especially the fact that this server must be hundreds of dollars a month to keep up, which brings us to the reality that businesses do whatever it takes to survive. There's certainly two sides on this coin.
Another thing to mention on this topic is that Microsoft would not get money even if there were no donor perks on any server.

This would not provide Meepcraft with real money though. It's called a donor perk because it's hard to keep large servers up. I can't even think about how much space this server needs, what with two Towny's. The standard starter pack for a server typically ends up costing 20-40 U.S. dollars a month (in my experience). As I said before, I cannot fathom how much Meepcraft takes to survive. Meebles will not pay for the server, only cash can.

If you look around on forums, there are plans to resurrect an old spawn: one of which I believe many of the older players are fond of. I wish I could find the link, but it seems to be buried a bit. It's been taking awhile, but I believe the plan is still in place to implement a spawn more to your liking.

I don't believe that chat restraints is the problem here. Reality is that everyone has their own views on what bad language is and what isn't. There's no defined line between what is appropriate and what is not. This leads to a lot of quarreling over what people should be punished for. There are some staff members who will let things like politics and religion have a go in chat, but others get mad when you call someone stupid.
I personally believe the best way to solve this problem is by making a document and writing out all the words on that list that are deemed inappropriate. That way there would be no controversy over players being punished because the player can easily see those words are prohibited, and the staff members know exactly what they are looking for when bad language comes into play.

This I will agree and disagree to.
I appreciate that you are able to see this. Firstly, I wish Meepcraft had a more U.S. like government. The ones who represent the players should be picked by the players.
However, this is not the United States of America. This is a game, business, dictatorship, whatever you want to call it. I've been doing a lot of research into what it takes to be a good leader (I am applying for drum major at my school) and many of the people I have interviewed said one of the main traits a leader should have is the time to communicate with your subordinates. Even businessmen are leaders to a degree.
While I was helper, I paid more attention to what the players needed than what the staff or I needed. I still care about people deeply, and I wish there was more I could do because I know that there was a lot of mistrust between the staff, who should be leaders, and the subordinates. None of the staff would be leaders without the player to lead. I don't have enough faith in anyone to say that popular sovereignty should be the way to get staff, but it should certainly play a part in it.
Another thing I will add to that is that new staff don't really get through boot camp until the first month of being a helper. If a new one makes a mistake, I won't exactly kill them for it because I know that I did a lot of dumb things while I was conditioning. It's all about experience. No matter how hated anyone is, if they get through a month and a half of being staff, they will gain enough consistency in their work ethics that everyone knows what is expected.

I hope I did not come off as offensive as it was not my intention to be aggressive. I am simply trying to clear things up, and state my opinion all in one. I understand you said you were an older player, so if that is the case feel free to talk to me if there is anything you don't understand. I do not wish any harm to come upon you. We are all working to do in what hopes to be the best for the server, and I appreciate that wholeheartedly.

Honestly, Fuzzlr's never told us the total pricing of Meepcraft. I know that there are over 40 ultimates, however, so how can it be that much more than 12800$ not even including supremes, elites, exclusives, etc.? There should be more than enough money to fund the server, especially since it's not even a host for an extremely large server.

The second point is, new ranks can still be added if they have little effect on winning the game. For example, /nick is a thing they can use, and a plug-in that shows you their real name if you mouse over it in chat shouldn't be hard to develop either.

Third, I hadn't realized that the spawn was going to be remade and I totally agree with that.. As long as they don't overdo it.

I agree with your fourth point about the dictatorship, however.

And dw, you're not coming off as aggressive as all. It's good to have an opinion to assert.

Gardevoir, server host payments are usually monthly. Think about it costing 40 U.S. for the starter pack, and advancing it all the way up to what Meepcraft is. 12,800$ compared to however many months Meepcraft has been up, with the additional factor that there's probably other things this server has to pay for as well.

Think about how much confusion there would be with nicknames. I've been on too many servers with them, it's totally crazy when they're given to people. Even if you could hover over a name, it would get too confusing too fast. I've been there, done that, and it's not fun.

Meep is around 4 years old, totalling 48 months. If meep costs 100$ per month, it's still only 4800/4yrs.

As for nicks, I already suggested the plugin and we have more than enough staff to monitor inappropriate names. Leave &# and &letter off, + its fine imo.

A cooldown is a good idea as well.

Alright @Gardevoir , you win with the money. Im pretty lazy, and that's something neither of us fully understand, so you win.
With the nicknames, I cannot convince anyone that they are torture. I know what I've seen, and that's that.
