MeepCraft Is Dead And We Need To Fix It

Hi... As many of you know that MeepCraft has been dying kinda slowly over the past few years. I recently just got back on to see how it was going. And Oh my god what has happened. I don't think we should fix bugs at the moment. Because just fixing bugs will not stop MeepCraft from dying any faster. I know it will eventually die. But... we can stop it. Or just squeeze some more years into the server. I know this is a very mild idea but I think we should add factions in to MeepCraft. I love factions and I know a lot of my friends who do to. The factions server i'm playing on right now is very glitchy. The staff never bans glitchers/hackers. And just the communication sucks. But with the staff on Meepcraft and the factions. And maybe just a little advertising, This thing could be huge. If we add it to Meepcraft and then just get it out there it has a 95% chance of success. We could add custom enchants. A lot of different spawners. It would be great I would get all my friends who are Meepcraft Ogs. And they already love factions. Thanks for your time!

Just gonna put the factions thing aside for a little bit.

One of the main reasons why I think this server is dying is because Minecraft is losing its popularity. Since Microsoft bought Mojang, some (or most) of their frequent updates are somewhat good to absolute garbage.

Adding factions won't do anything to help it, honestly. I've been apart of those faction servers before. It will add a whole level of trouble to deal with.

 

I enjoy factions, but it adds a level of hatred that tears communities apart (into factions if you want to put it that way). While the game itself is fun, the community and no rule mindset that comes with it makes it undesirable for a server like ours built around community.

How bout stick around and play on the server a bit, then make your suggestions.

 

If you actually read the rules of making a suggestion, you would know that Factions are auto denied Fuzzlr himself thinks that it ruins communities, as stated above by @smkorpi, I highly doubt this would be accepted, And I actually love factions, but Meep doesn't need factions to grow into a larger community, It's something else.

Meepcraft is not adding factions. Period.

 

I need to start making money for every time a post like this is made. We could then fund Meep.

 

If I had a Meeble for every time someone makes this kind of thread, I could buy Ultimate for the entire server.

 

Any type of success is preceded by Fuzzlr getting to server back in good graces with Mojang. Otherwise any effort made is inherently stunted.

 

Meepcraft isn't dying. This is the same debate of Minecraft dying. With Microsoft's acquisition of Mojang, they created many versions of the game which people found more convenient to buy and play with their friends. The PC edition has been hurt by this, but not Minecraft as a whole. Meepcraft has two issues: a difficult time retaining newer players used to extremely quick minigames in quick succession, and difficulty finding funding in a way which doesn't violate Mojang's EULA. These are the two hurdles which has made growth slow on Meepcraft. It should be noted that there still is growth. Look at the increases in pwarps and the abilities of towns to continue to grow for proof.

 

I think what we need is a functional way to engage new players and make them stay. Towns has always lacked in doing this, which is why mini-games are fundamental. But towns is always what gets players integrated into the community and ultimately what makes them stay, so the question remains as to how we can enhance the towny role in the server and make most gamemodes tie back into the towny experience.
Btw I think "meepcraft is dead/dying/having-a-triple-heart-bypass" is a false premise. No, meepcraft is not dying. Yes, meepcraft is not receiving adequate donations to fund server maintenance and development. I think the latter is the larger issue at hand, and the most important step, as stated by @Deinen , is for fuzzlr to get the server back into favorable light with mojang. Otherwise, most of the plans to increase player retention and cash flow to the server is thwarted.

We have no chance of getting back into good graces with Mojang. The only option is to remove any advantage-giving perks such as /fly. I did not pay $320 of my hard-earned birthday money for some crap cosmetics. I bought ultimate for /fly, and if you take that away, I (and I assume a bunch of other Ultimates) will be very upset and some will leave.

 

Meepcraft' UELA issues are interesting, as Meepcraft ranks promise the players benefits which the UELA would force for all or none. Once again, if anyone has a solution which makes the ranked and unranked players happy, along with continue to bring in money to maintain the server, go ahead and name it.

 

Are you saying Meep isn't funded?

 

The server itself is not dead, just minecraft has dropped in a player base, Less and less people are playing Minecraft now.
A lot of updates that came out for minecraft have not been very good lately.

Meepcraft still has a player base that is a close commuity, Most servers don't really have this.
