Math Question Of the Week

My math teacher assigns us all a question every week which is worth extra credit. We are allowed to ask friends and family (he didn't say anything about not asking minecraft forums). Anyway, heres the question

You are locked in a jail cell. There are 2 doors. Door #1 leads to certain death Door #2 leads to freedom. Guarding each of these doors is a guard. One of the guards always tells the truth. The other always lies. You don't know which guard is which, you don't know which door is which, and you don't know which guard is in front of which door. You have one question to determine which door leads to freedom. What's your question

(You can't have an "and" question ex. "Which guard are you, and which door do you guard)"

You ask the guard what wouldbthe other guard say. You can ask either one. Pick the opposite of what they would pick.

I've heard this one before... Also, this is a logic puzzle, not a math question. Your teacher is misinforming you.

 

I know. Its just a question of the week in my math class sometimes its logic sometimes its math. I cant do either XD

 

Stab the left guard in the jugular with your No2 pencil, proceed to take their weapon and force the living guard through your choice of door. If they live follow them. If they don't go through the other door.

 

While most people would ask a guard what the other guard would say to get an inverted version of the truth, I would ask a guard what they would say if I asked them which door was correct. This would result in the truth from both guards, because the guard who lies would lie about his own lie.

 

What question would you ask the guard exactly?

But the liar would lie about what the other would say and the honest one would tell the truth, it doesn't tell you which door. They would both point to the opposite door because the liar lies either way.

Actually, you don't know which door the liar is standing in front of, so you'd need information on the path as well.
