Mass player unban

Even if you have to reban 75% of them, you had a player increase that made the server more entertaining *especially* if there is a revamp coming

didn't something similar happen when meep towny reset? we saw a hugeee boost in players at that time and meep was getting a new spawn and stuff so this is kinda the same situation if we getting a revamp. bring back the banned players!!

I loved this, funny enough majority of the people I banned had to be banned again by others for more or less the same behaviour they were banned for previously. Its a good player count increase for 2 months until it lowers again.

 

I can already hear the sound of VKL and his 10,000 alts rumbling in the distance

 

Me saying I loved this was a + for it, just added what the outcome will be and I enjoyed having my mates back on the server for a while.

 

So throw away all the work done by random players and VOLUNTEERS who spend hours doing this?

 

The same volunteers that care about the community.
The same volunteers that want to see meep grow again.
The same volunteers that, should a mass unban happen, be willing to deal with the consequences and reban if need be.

Its not like we are tearing down real houses, physical objects, breaking things that staff members spent years putting blood sweat and tears into. Its real people who may or may not make a real contribution to the server again, given another chance.

I stayed up all nighters when no one was on countless times. When I found a duping glitch relayed to /astools, I spent 12 hrs a day for 4 days (i miss summer vacations) going through every players prism logs for AST for the past month and a half. There was a streamer on twitch who would get hundreds of people to spam join the server and Id spend hours banning each one.
I don't regret a thing, nor would I if each player was unbanned.

 

Personally, I have no issue with rebanning people if need be, but historically we've learned that mass unbans have never worked as a long term solution. We have a single document with every permanently banned player on it, and a vast majority of them are alts anyways. If you exclude alts and duping/hacking/other types of cheating, you have a very very small list of banned players (less than 10).

Having been a moderator during the last mass unban with the reset, we banned the literal exact same people again because they came back and did the exact same thing. I'm all for second chances, and that's why so many players actually get unbanned. VKL, oKCS, Gaeyeong, and similar have shown time and time again that they don't change. I mean seriously, one we unbanned had been banned for duping before, came back, got banned for toxicity, and then got unbanned again (over a course of 2 years) only to get banned for duping again within two weeks. It's not personal against those people. Shoot, I actually consider many of them as friends or at least cool people to talk to, but not on Meep.

With that in mind, this suggestion is denied.
