/lock for chests

As a player who has lost items due to thefts, I thought it would be a good idea to have /lock. while looking at a chest and typing /lock, the chest would be locked and you would be given a key. the chest can only be opened by staff and the player who locked it, unless someone else got the key.


Note: this can be done without pluggins

You can just make it into a chest shop.
If you died in wild with key and someone took it you would never get stuff back, also, donating gets /chest which I find very helpful.

 

But what if someone doesn't own a pwarp, they can't make a chest shop so I think it would be a good idea to have chest locks.

 

Why wouldn't they be able to make a chest shot?

Staff can see who has took/put items in chests.

but then they would have to go through all of those processes when you can just simply add a chest lock so you don't have to get a mod to find out who did it and refund all of the items.

What you guys don't realize is that chest shops require the plot type to be a Shop, which
1: (I think) can only be changed by Mayors and other higher-ups
2: Gives you Shop tax, which is usually pretty high.

With this, all citizens will be able to lock their chests and also avoid the possible risk of extra tax

 

I know this. Which is why I said what I did.

Mayors, co-mayors, and possible assistants. Probably.

-1, we had something similar on another server in the past. It's a pain in the butt to have to either retrieve stolen items or worry about clearing old plots with the signs on them. Although now that I think about it, I'm sure /plot clear would remove the signs.

Overall to me, this could work but I think time needs to be spent on more urgent things.

 

+1 but it would also be good if this didn't happen because guess what? Majority of the players don't know that Meepcraft has Logblock or whatever.

They don't require the plot type shop xD

If you set up your plot properly only your mayor/co-mayor/and assistants can open your chests.

If they take your things you can get them banned.

Problem solved.

If you let friends open chests on your plot and then friend someone you don't know very well we call this darwinism or survival of the smartest.

 

This is unneeded. Just file a /modreq if something is stolen, or to be extra careful, put chest shop signs on your chests.
