The V-Shop was my favorite aspect of meepcraft. I believe, that along with /shout, it made the serve unique.
The Problems With the Current System
The current system with chest shops severely limits the ability in which items can be sold. Sure, players can still buy their items from a NPC, but in order for chest shops to get buyers to come through. To do this stores must be advertised, either through constant /shout's or with thousands upon thousands of meebles directed towards advertising on holograms, and in keeping up with player warps. However, this is very inefficient for smaller shops and has given rise to large 'malls' where tons of blocks are sold. Since players who just started don't have the money to invest in this, and quite frankly many players don't have the time this severely limits the number of shops. Since there is only a limited number of these large super-malls, storeowners still underprice competitors for certain big name items such as iron, which lead to a slower but still present decline in prices.
The Problems with the Old V-Shop
Even though the old V-Shop was the easiest system for selling items, there still was one flaw in it. Most people who used the V-Shop sold stuff to make money, more than they bought stuff. Since there were more items on the V-Shop than people wanted to buy, the prices for items dropped consistently, which was not good.
    My Solution
I think that the V-Shop should come back, but with a restriction to keep prices more stable.
My solution both is intended to help stabilize the price of goods, but also to create an environment, where little shop users can sell their goods. Users would be able to set a price for which they want to sell their goods at, but must retain that price for seven days (after the initial sell point). Sellers would be able to list as many items as they wanted, but items that did not sell after the 7 days would receive a penalty based on their list price.
    Penalties Based on List Prices
    1 Meeble and Under- 0.05
    5 Meebles and Under-0.25
    10 Meebles and Under- 0.50
    15 Meebles and Under- 0.75
    20 Meebles and Under- 1.00
    30 Meebles and Under- 1.50
    40 Meebles and Under-2.00
    50 Meebles and Under- 2.50
    60 Meebles and Under- 3.00
    70 Meebles and Under-3.50
    80 Meebles and Under-4.00
    90 Meebles and Under-4.50
    100 Meebles and Under- 5.00
    125 Meebles and Under-6.25
    150 Meebles and Under-7.50
    175 Meebles and Under-8.75
    200 Meebles and Under-10.00
    225 Meebles and Under-11.25
    250 Meebles and Under-12.50
    300 Meebles and Under- 15.00
    350 Meebles and Under- 17.50
    400 Meebles and Under- 20.00
    450 Meebles and Under-22.50
    500 Meebles and Under-25.00
    MAX FEE 25 Meebles
This system would prevent sellers from constantly underbidding each other which leads to consistently declining prices. This system would also prevent players from selling large amounts of items at once, which would allow items to sell out quicker, and would therefore create a price balance as the price would increase to the next lowest seller.

The V-Shop used to be my favorite aspect of meepcraft. I believe, that along with /shout, it made the serve unique.
