I don't support transgenderism. Convince me otherwise.

First, getting this out of the way. If you identify as a transgender, I'm 100% okay with that. I'm not the type of person that will harass or belittle you about your life choices just because I don't agree with you. I support people suffering from gender dysphoria to find a way to solve their problem in anyway they see fit, including gender reassignment surgery.

Before you label me as a bigot or a misogynist or something of the like, I believe I should have the right to explain why I believe transgenderism is a delusion. I believe the popularity of transgenderism today is just like the radiation-miracle cure phase of the 1980's, a movement with no factual backing. I was taught at a young age that the only way to prove something is to provide fact. If a pressured a transgender to prove to me that they were really their chosen gender, would they be able to prove it to me? They would not. If I feel like I am a frog, society will tell me I'm obviously human, despite the fact that my frog-otherkin fantasy has just as much proof as transgenders - we feel like it.

Why would no one agree with me if I identify as 60 years old? You can't magically change your gender, you cant magically change your sex, you can't magically change your age. Fact is not subjective, its a constant, and fact doesn't care about your feelings. And listen, I'm fine with you calling yourself a girl, I could not care any less. But if you're asking me to pretend like men are women, I will not do that.

Anyone want to convince me otherwise? If you disagree, please comment, I want to have a civilized discussion about this, and I have a lot of evidence to support myself.

 

I think I agree with you on all of this, really. I'd like to see the opposing argument and demonstrate my masterful debating skills. I'll whip out the classic "you're wrong, sorry".

 

No one cares about how you feel. Your opinion is irrelevant.

 

For clarification, are you talking about mes? I don't understand your response. But if you are, this is a thread in a forum thats based entirely on opinion.

 

You do realise that this is the debates section, right? He's presenting his view on a topic and asking others to share their own, so that he can debate theirs. What's wrong about his post?

Regardless, I feel that it's necessary to note that it is indeed possible to change one's sex, but it must be a complete biological change. This is evidenced by the fact that MTF transgender individuals are participating in women's sports and handily winning due to their immense physical advantage. The two sexes are just built differently - I imagine it'd be pretty hard to change gender without being a mix of both, an unnatural hybrid.

I really never understood why this is an issue, as long as you are still speaking english (Zoom zippity zir zap zap bing bong CHINA isn't a pronoun) it doesn't really matter, just because some dude wants to wear a dress doesn't affect you at all.

 

You can identify however you want. If a man wants to where a dress, why does that affect you? Have you been living in a stereotypical bubble where everyone and everything in life is perfect? Sorry to burst your bubble (no pun intended), but some people have trouble and things they dislike about their lives, and sometimes it's their gender. I personally would never transgender, but if someone else wants to do so, I wouldn't care.

Is this a thread basically stating that you yourself wouldn't be transgender, and you want us to convince you why you should?

So long as you are medically honest, as in you were born a guy so tell your doc you were born a guy because medically especially men and women are very different, who cares

No, he wants us to prove to him that transgenderism isn't a "delusion" (his words). He doesn't want people to tell him that "I don't mind transgenders", as if anyone's going to say otherwise and get publicly crucified on the forums.

Transgender-ness is pretty disgusting, the other day I saw a man in yoga pants which you could clearly see his you-know-what with poorly done lipstick and makeup and a super tight dress, I legit almost threw up my Chipotle :/

 

Many of you guys are asking why this is a big deal. I find it a big deal because saying fact, in this day and age now, is considered bigotry. That irks me. We're transitioning into a post-truth society at this pace.

What also irks me is that people are dying to support this delusion. The transgender suicide rate is 40%. The issue with this, besides it being astronomically high, is that its the SAME suicide rate both after and before gender reassignment surgery. Gender Reassignment Surgery, therefore, cant be considered a treatment. Help psychiatricly may be able to help prevent transgender suicides.
