How to build a Slot Machine!

Ever wondered how to build a slot machine? This thread will teach you step by step!

What you need:
- 2 chests
- 1 hopper
- 1 dispenser
- 1 redstone comparator
- 1 redstone repeater
- 2 redstone
- 1 redstone torch
- 1 stone block
- 1 sign

Steps

1. First, place your chests and hopper like in the picture. This is the part where the player buys from the chestshop in order to get the prize. First place the bottom chest, then to place the hopper, shift and click on the back of the bottom chest. You should see them both connect. Then shift click on top of the hopper to place the other chest on top.


2. Now you want to place the dispenser, like in the picture. Place it diagonal to the bottom chest.

3. Ah, redstone time! Place the comparator beside the dispenser. The two 'sticks' on the comparator should be facing the bottom chest. Then place the repeater beside the comparator like in the picture. Make sure the right click the repeater to set it to 1 'tick.'


4. Next, you want to place the stone block opposite the comparator. Then place a redstone on top of it, then another redstone opposite the repeater. Both redstones should join.



5. Now, place the redstone torch on the blank side of the stone block, like so.


6. Now, fill your top chest with any random, worthless item. Such as cobblestone or dirt. ONLY FILL THE TOP CHEST. DO NOT PUT ANYTHING IN THE BOTTOM CHEST OTHERWISE IT WON'T WORK. Once you filled the top chest, look in the bottom chest, there should only be one item in it.

7. Next, fill your dispenser with your prizes/goodies. Make sure you lay it out evenly. Outside the slot, put up some item frames to show the layout of the prizes in there.

8. Lastly, you want to put your chest shop sign! Shift and click with your sign on the front of the bottom chest, then type in this layout:
name
amount you want to sell e.g 1
B(PRICE HERE without the brackets)
ITEMID of the item, hold the item and type /iteminfo

So for example, I typed:

that's why you should keep some money in gold blocks just in case

 

It's probably a good idea to use a dropper instead of a dispenser, especially for random item drops, because a dispenser will activate like lava buckets and you don't wanna deal with that

 

So just to confirm doing this will randomly dispense/drop one item from the dispenser/dropper to the player? So if you filled it with 8 stacks of gold and 1 stack of diamond, you would have a 1/9 chance to get diamond?

 

This is correct - the dispenser/dropper will activate when the bottom chest is empty.

 

Directions unclear.
Put a hopper on top of a chest which sells glass bottles for 2K hooked up to another hopper containing the prize wired up to a comparator which emits a signal when the furnace a few blocks away smelts cobblestone.
