Events starting idea

We all love events and the reward if we win of course but, they better happen! NinjaRoxy told me that reggles44 was thinking about making it so anyone could start events first one to start chooses event, thats a bad idea reggles, people would be spamming the console with /event start, why dont we have it always running but at min the pot needs to be at 10k or something to start, to fix spamming, and for choosing of games, people would be mad if everyone else wants to play something else, so why not like infected and have vote for games. This is alot more fair for the community with majority rules plus itll will be actively running its a win win for everyone, but the main reason for this idea is that i was event to happen alot more, but staff must be on. Staff sadly arent always on and saldy they dont always want to do events. Im sure we can all agree this is a good option for how and when events start, and hey maybe staff can do force events (mainly to fix technical issues).

That's not quite what I said, but I like the idea of other people being able to start an event. And the people that donate to an event, being able to vote for the which event is done sounds good to me. We can't have the events all the time or they wont be as special. But a few more would be great, as players seem to love them and staff are busy with doing their job (which is understandable).

I think the min pot should be around 100k. I mean it's an event and I rather not see spam, also it would be worth going to

I have have 2 suggestions for this. Both could be implemented but they may clash with one another.

Suggestion 1
I would not mind if players all donate towards the plot and once it reaches 150k/200k it starts. A notification will pop up that the plot has reached 50k, 100k, 150k/200k but a notification pops up once every half hour just so there is not much spam and it reminds us where it's at.

I believe at that price it will benefit the players that want to make it so that they can start things and also it's the same price to start a town. So if a new player pops into event world or someone working towards one they can either donate to speed it up or join in to try and win it. At that price I also don't think it will happen too often so it will have the rarity or specialty because we do not want it to be the main focus and take out lotto for people to try and make money.

Suggestion 2
I see events as a nice time for everyone to get together but I am not a fan if it was constantly spamming chat. For this suggestion have it so that someone pays $5 or have it as a pool so people can pay $1 or their desired amount then when it reaches $5 on the forums an Event game of 250k will start. Techs or Admins can change the event world every 2 weeks so that it is not repetitive each month.
(these are not set price it is just and example)

I like my second suggestion because events can still have that specialty of excitement and people will have that power to choose when it starts. I am certain that it is acceptable to the EULA because anyone can win it and no one gets an advantage over the other players. Then we will have money coming together and we can direct that to our techs that work on the server and hopefully we can get our plugins updated quicker and be on the right track.

 

Staff are compensated?

Idea #2 might work better if we want the events to be a bit more infrequent. Rich players with nothing much to spend their money on and "make 500k in an hour ez!" could still be starting events all the time at 100-200k.

 

Yeah that is why we have it between 150k - 250k so that it does not happen too frequent. The rich will not absolutely thrash it I don't think because some want to keep that wealth.

 

maybe the staff can enable/disable (or otherwise set) specific times when players can vote on (and start) events. This would make it more special but still allow players to have one or two days a week when they get to pick the events...

 

The plugin does not work like this - there would be no spam. Reggles is still working out the kinks for this idea so I am going to deny this at this time. Thank you though!
