Christopher Columbus Day

I know you guys in USA (and other American countries) celebrate the anniversary of Christopher Columbus' arrival in and discovery of America.. But I was wondering if all of you guys celebrate that day with pride and still give credits to a man like him?

I am not going to say more till I get more feedback about this subject.. and I really hope to heear from some american natives what they think of Columbus

 

I don't think schools even get the day off for it.

 

As an American native (someone who was born in America), I like Chris Columbus day, even though the guy wasn't that great. I think it should focus more on the fact that America was discovered, rather than Columbus discovered it (because he didn't).

 

Personally, I believe it's someone's idea to have a reason to throw a party. We have fairly solid evidence Norsemen landed at Newfoundland several hundred years before. In my opinion, Columbus only made the Western Hemisphere known to European powers, such as Britain, Spain, and France.

 

I celebrate by going to a neighborhood where people are living and calling 911 saying I found new unexplored land.
