chat lock

A new player asked me if it was possible to lock their chat on /tc so they didn't have to type it each time.

this seemed like a great idea. so I'm posting it here for the community

 

This has been denied in the past due to spam since people will forget that they're in /g ot /tc or whatever lock

not to mention people like me who curse a lot to friends in private would do it in global on accident

it adds 3-4 characters, dont be lazy

 

Player ignorance isn't a real reason to deny. There is always going to be people who break rules even though every precaution will be made.

Back when I played, having to /tc every time I wanted to say something was ridiculous. If I get on the server, and I only want to speak to the global chat to answer questions, then I wouldn't need to specify what chat I was using.

Regardless, you're typing /msg or /r before every pm. Private message ingame isn't a chat that is/was able to lock.

Its not just players forgetting, but really it will cause much more spam than you may even realize. Honestly it just makes it more of a pain when you can type.... 3-4 more characters. 5 if its /msg

 

I have people in my town who will get banned for words they use in /g if they forget it's toggled. -1

I think a partial lock would be good, but global should always require you to do /g. As for town chat though, you should be able to lock that in my opinion. As for priority, however, I would not place this very high on the list.

 

If you want you can lock /pc
