Change in how releases are done.

So today Klitcher is going to learn something about Scrum which is a specific type of project organization and development process which is used for software development.

Scrum outline:


TLDW:
You break down specific features that are desired to be accomplished, and you break those features down into short deliverables. Most deliverables will be done within two weeks and on a set schedule the project finishes new features.

Suggestion:
The development process should be revised for a two week schedule where every two weeks the development team focuses on one aspect of the server and does a limited number of features that will be accomplished at the end of the two week period. This way the process for change can be organized and expected in regular periods and the player's wouldn't need to wonder when the next update is.

We have nightly updates and the devs are constantly upadating different things. That's why we've had so many new additions in the past few weeks at once. I'm not completely opposed to this system, I think i'ts nice but where we are now planning-wise isn't that bad.

 

For the staff it's not that bad but if players have a weekly or bi-weekly day where they can expect new features it would be nice.

 

Well we do have the Meep times which updates on all new things ever two weeks..so far there's always been an update included but I suppose knowing what that update would be wouldn't be too bad. But not really needed yaknow, considering what we have now

 

I would love to have scrum but June does have a point. Although not all players go on meepcraft.com and check the meep times weekly or daily (at least I don't). Scrum is really just a way to organize things. Reggles, if I am getting what your saying you want this so players can expect updates. Although that video did kinda just give us a new way to do things. If we have all of our devs watch this video and plan things like this then we don't need to pay for scrum (because I know I sure like to save money ). Although I just read up and saw that you simply stated what I just said at the suggestion part and this was a waste of time, but we should have a schedule like this "scrum" thing works. I'm no dev (yet) and I don't know how things go on right now but if we can have a setup like this then we could have things done in no time!

I personally think that having a specific date for things to be added wouldnt be too much of an issue, but theres always constant work going on regarding different aspects of the server. Meep times is pretty good too, where players learn about the different additions as well
