Bans and appeals.

Set up ban appeals so they are visible, but are made like staff apps. What I mean is, make it so players can't comment on an appeal without a staff member accepting the comment first.

Another suggestion regarding ban appeals, make up so It's can only appeal once every 24 hours. That could be changed to a week or more/less depending on what seems fair.

Final suggestion is to show permanent bans in chat with the reasons. ONLY permanent bans, not temporary bans.

Feel free to add suggestions or comments below. I may add more suggestions regarding ban appeals and bans if they fit.

 

Ban appeals should be public, with moderator approval.
The ability to only appeal once in a day, I hope you mean per IP otherwise its just ridiculous.

I'm all for total ban knowledge, tbh I think pretty much everything should be public.

Because it's just another forum to moderate. Bans are private, so appeals should be private.

If you want something to be changed/done, give reason why it should happpen. Otherwise you will not be taken seriously.

 

If I want to hire Player1 to work in my town, I want to check if he's ever been banned, just like businesses do background checks.

 

I was going to post something stupid, but I feel like this sums it up nicely.

 

As for the OP, here are my two cents.

Basically I think we should just remove the ban appeal bot. There was nothing wrong with the way it used to be; if you want to appeal you make an account. It wasn't difficult, in fact if I remember right it would take you straight to account creation when you clicked on the appeal button if you didn't already have an account.
Alright, the one problem I can think of is the age of the playerbase, and how some players may not be allowed to make a forum account. But just think about it, does the appeal bot solve that? Yes you can appeal, but you can't do anything beyond that. I mean, if the player isn't allowed a forums account, do you really think they have a Skype account? And if they do, do you think they're allowed to give it out on the Internet?
The staff has said that bans were made private due to the appeal bot being abused. Alright, so by removing it we're hitting two birds with one stone:

• No more spam/troll appeals with the appeal bot
• Now that the reason of why they were made private is gone, we can make them public again, thus stopping all these threads about why ban appeals are private because I am really getting tired of them.

 

I've responded to this before. Simply speak to the staff, and the staff will contact Player1. If it's okay with Player1, we will share his ban history. Until that time, however, bans will remain a private matter.
