Above are two videos explaining what backpacks are and telling a bit on how to craft them. The first one contains language, sorry about that, but it goes into deeper detail than the second one. I also provided the link to the Bukkit site for it.

A backpack allows for more storage space. They are craftable and come in 6 different sizes from 9 to 54 slots. I think they'd be really useful because everyone could use more storage space, and I know that donors already get the /chest command, but for citizens who absolutely can't donate and don't have the meebles to buy ranks, this could provide an alternative. It's not like just putting in a code and boom, you've got more room. The materials need to found or bought. It could potentially add to sales for people with chest shops. Players can also go ahead and craft sell them for more profit, just as they do with banners and other stuff. I don't know about how much lag it would cause, because I don't know how coding and stuff works. Though, I wouldn't imagine that it would make things horribly worse.

In the first video it mentions about campfires, I don't think that would be needed at all. Which, the Bukkit listing doesn't even mention campfires, so I'm assuming that's a whole different plugin. I do think it's worth a look into either way.

 

+/- We do have /chest, but citizens don't have anything. They should at least get something like /chest.

This is a super usefull mod in minecraft, and it's pretty cool.

 

Thats is a really nice idea for a donator's perk. Having an item in your inventory with instant access to storage with a right click seems really convenient compared to typing /chest. Might want to think of it as a slightly better version of the chest system. I doubt there is a need for both a chest and a backpack plugin, though. Yes, I am aware of the fact, that you are suggesting this for Citizens, but that is another bigger-ish plugin to the database, that is not really nesessary.

I can not watch the video at this moment, therefor I can not see the crafting recipe, but I would not think of it as a potential item for trading. You craft/buy one and you are good to go, unless it degrades.

Since you mentioned there are several sizes, it fits the concept of rank tiers well.
A VIP would get the smallest size, an Ultimate the biggest.

 

This is basically a physical form of /chest. For that reason it's a -1 from me.

 

+1. I rather replace chest with this.

 

-1 this is basically a lesser /chest. Sure it may be cool, but if it REALLY isn't necessary why do we need to implement this? And if citizens get this then it is basically /chest, which is a major selling point for ranks.
