Auto-Planting Saplings in the Wild

I posit that if saplings were to auto-plant after a set amount of time (30 seconds or ~the despawn time), that it would improve the Wild by making it more dynamic. As it stands, it is static and most people going to the Wild do not replant trees after deforesting to crank up their woodcutter level.

Bonus: incredibly minor chance to grow one of the special object trees used in the Wild (only if it grows naturally and not if bonemeal is used).

I do not know if this would cause more lag. Perhaps someone with modding/mod-playing experience could comment.

Firstly, do you know how much work this would be?

Second, wild resets, and we can seriously just grow more trees if they're needed that badly. Deforestation is hardly a problem at all.

Wild resets approximately once every 3-4 months.

Fair enough, but this still does not negate the fact it isn't really a problem. Wild resets enough that we've never had a shortage on trees before, and never will. Seriously, people can just make a tree farm if the want.

Anyway, I've been on since April and I think the wild was reset pretty close to when I joined. In 3 months there are still plenty of trees, but I find plenty of disturbed areas as well. To me, this is actually a pretty low effort change to create a more interesting Wild.

I dont see a point. Even after four months it will only take me a few minutes max to find a biome I want for wood. If I have trouble I can just grow my own trees

 

It has nothing to do with being sensitive its the way you stated your comment and presented yourself. Anyways I don't want to fight over something so silly. Being able to have auto sapling doesn't really make the wild any more interesting then it already is.

I like this idea, it would make the wild look much nicer and more appealing to look at. Since the plugin already exists, the techs wouldn't have to do much work to get it implimented.

there's no harm in putting it in, just more trees, which has literally no issue

the only reason wild was reset more often in the "old days" was due to the huge player population, something this server doesnt get anymore

Your forgetting something crucial, you need motivated people to get something done 5 mins to a normal person is 5 hours to a tech, obviously kidding in your head you were saying toxic toxic, gj techs keep adding stuff +1

I was making a joke about how nothing ever gets done on this server though I was kidding.

 

In all honesty, it was in response to a suggestion. So people actually did want it.
