Instead of bashing someone for trying to help the server, it would work better to instead help it out yourself.
As for the suggestion, unless the ads are free, they're not worth it, and never will be.

Heres the idea We put ads on meepcrafts website (of course we wont advertise other servers) Use the revenue from that to fund OUR ads on other websites e.g. Planet MC and boom we dont lose anything and we gain alot

Ads on the forums would be a good way to bring in revenue other than overcharging people for ranks.
I doubt anyone would mind seeing them.

Thats my idea put 2-10 adds on the forums, That brings in some revenue, Use that revenue to run our OWN adds on Planet MC and bam instant player count and when we are big enough we can stop advertising on planet MC and then we got a extra source of revenue

Idk if it would make all that much due to the small playerbase

Then again the playerbase is pretty active so if everytime you checked fourms you saw 2-4 adds it could work.

The server is in no state to advertise there are a key things we need before even considering which are:
    • 1) Towny additions to give players a better towny experience than other servers
    • 2) Have functioning, enjoyable minigames
    • 3) Moderation staff members available in most time zones
    • 4) More choices on the server shop
    • 5) Techs that can perform the changes we need
    • + a few more
    1) After the API update is completed towny additions will be much easier to implement. The slightest things like a decent traveling merchant, ast, quests, custom strongholds for players to band together and fight. Also dare I say a towny war active world if better machines are bought.

    2) Our minigames are garbage and not working.

    3) Nearly 24/7 coverage is needed, having more players brings more modrequests and we do not have close to complete coverage.

    4) New shop additions such as pet crate keys, minigame boosters, player purchased events, forum titles, gadget crate keys and many more in order to increase our income to pay for advertisements and server improvements.

    5) I appreciate every single voluntary tech the server get but they are usually gone within a year and when something goes sideways it's left for whichever new tech is here which often takes time to fix due to their knowledge and or lack of support to share the workload. There is currently a community dev program Lord is running and I advise anyone that is interesting in working on additions for the server to contact him!

I want more players and love Meep but realistically the majority of Minecraft players do not want to play on a half baked server which is why the staff team appreciates every single one of you that come ingame to play and even check forums once and a while.

A lot of players enjoy ctf?

Also, there are maps sitting and waiting to be added to minigames once they’re back again. I don’t think halo is sufficient on it’s own.

sorry I didn't explain myself well there. That sounded pretty negative. I'll rephrase:

Meep's playerbase is pretty small. That being said, the minigames really work against themselves because they're laid out like large-playerbase server minigames. If you have a ton of players, short matches with low rewards work great since all players are rewarded equally. However, if you have a small playerbase, it ends up as nobody earning much of anything. Especially with the lack of difference between halo games (each game almost goes exactly the same for me, unless it's that annoying huge one) most players seem to grow bored of it within 15 or so minutes. Spleef is similarly short-winded, plus "dead" players have to sit there idle for some time, losing their interest in the game.

With Meep's playerbase, longer-lasting minigames would work drastically better. 15 or 30 minute games would keep players interested and hopefully have more eventful games. With balanced kits (see Balancing KitPvP) and interesting yet easy-to-learn mechanics, I believe a longer-lasting version of ctf could really benefit the community (Imagine TF2 with swords) This also makes kitpvp better as for players who enjoy low-reward quick-paced games, so it's a win-win with more variety in content. This isn't to say current CTF is absolute garbage, but it was laughably unbalanced and badly structured.

Yeah, there are plans eventually to redo ctf in a much less catastrophic way.

Personally, I think we need a mixture of the 2014-15 and the 2017 ctf.

    Cons of the 2014/15 ctf:
    • Too much emphasize on collecting resources, and gathering materials.
    • Too big of a map (especially for the the current playerbase size)
    • Long, dry games.
    Cons of the 2017 ctf:
    • Unbalanced kits.
    • Has a buggy and broken plugin.
    • Maps that did not match the playing style of the game (quick, and pvp focused).
    • Low win prizes.
    • All in all, lacked cohesion and strategy.
The biggest problem with those two ctfs were that they lacked balance. The 2014/15 ctf was boring because players would hide, gather materials, and it lacked a lot of conflict or sense of adrenaline. The 2017 ctf was almost the opposite, and while it kept you on your toes, it lacked the fun type of strategy most team games have and the kits were extremely unbalanced.

I won’t go on to my idea of ctf though because that would derail more off the topic.

But in summary, I pretty much agree with everything @Kling said.

The "Great Supreme Overlord" has a very rich daddy, who gave him 10k to start the server in the first place, I don't think you need to worry about him running out more than him just shutting it down because he was bored of it.

Well we are having a slow growing player base as it is right now so adds on both our website to fund adds on other websites again Planet MC is still my top choice would be the best option right now to grow the server

The problem with advertisements is that they work for as long as they're being ran for, and they cost a lot of money. Unless we first fix a lot of features and improve some of the worlds, I don't think there's a point in running advertisements right now. Best thing to do right now is to vote, tell family or friends about meepcraft, or make videos advertising the server.

heres the idea. 1 add on here = 1 add somewhere else. and even better idea would have someone get a booth at minecon this year for meepcraft.

Minecon is well beyond the budget of Meepcraft, and we are currently on Mojang's blacklist anyways. Simply put, we do not have the budget for ads on other sites, either.

Were I in charge of the financial side of the server, the only investment I would make at this time is in an upgrade to the servers to reduce the insane latency worlds have had as of late.

Again people if we put a limited amount of adds on the fourms and put some adds on lets say a mincraft map website it would work out
    --- Double Post Merged, Mar 6, 2018, Original Post Date: Mar 6, 2018 ---
Ok 1. We were taken off the blacklist I beleave. 2. If we put ads on meep craft FORUMS we can then put a few on other sites! in all we gain players and if it works out we will gain money as when they see the advertisement they will click on it and then see several more on our forums paying for the advertisement 2-9 times over
    --- Double Post Merged, Mar 6, 2018 ---
But doing so would make us spend well over our budget as our current payment per month is 1000$ since last i checked

As it stands right now, we are not off of the blacklist. We are Eula compliant, but we require Mojang's approval to be taken off of the blacklist.

Ads on forums would not generate anywhere near the revenue to advertise on server lists, either.
