Fast despawning leaves

I’ve been watching a lot of YouTube recently and something that I’ve seen in some modded series is that leaves have a fast despawning rate. This is really self explanatory, it has the same drop rates for saplings and apples if it’s an oak or dark oak tree. I don’t know if this is possible but I think it would be a nice addition just to make it easier on everyone.

I don’t know if this will go to the exact time stamp since I’m on my phone doing this, but the time stamp is 16:33 for an example.

 

The leaves on trees in vanilla Minecraft can take up to two or three minutes to completely despawn compared to that mod which is almost instantaneous. I figured this could be added since it seems easy? even though I know nothing about coding.

 

This would be useful as someone who gets most of their wood, apples and saplings from trees. +1

 

What if people want to gather leaves for decoration?

 

Only concern I'd have is lag, which is obviously an issue as of late. Other than that, I see no reason not to add this.

 

this can be done in vanilla minecraft by running the command /gamerule randomTickSpeed (number) however this will also effect water flow, crop growth, grass spread, fire spread, ect. I also believe that there is a plugin for this but yea with towns's current lag problem this would be very bad in every way.

 

Meep's tickspeed is awful. It's really inconsistent too. I think this would massively lag the server (more than it already is lagging) so eh, not super useful either, so -1

 

It’s only meant to be for convenience purposes. And by the way @Cooleysworld was talking the TPS was 8.9 and now it’s up to either 17 or 18. It doesn’t matter if it’s implimented, I just think that would be a cool thing to be in Minecraft in general.

I have a question @lanekids40 im not trying to sound like a smartass here at all. How come in modpacks they have that implementation with the leaves but it doesn’t effect the water speed, lava speed, ETC. Just curious.

 

because within spaghetti code by notch, the block updates are all specific to each block type but the timers use the same variable so for example waterFlow=x and leafDecay=x as well. mods can change this as it is just adding a duplicate var function and the code for random block updates or randomTickSpeed for that block and assigning it anything but x so for example leafDecay=y and waterFlow=x.

oh as a side note plugins can not do this as they are server side only "mods" and fast leaf decay requires both client and server to have them. its why modding boomed after 1.3 because the singleplayer worlds moved to the multiplayer format
