So since every new player that joins the server, 2.5k is spawned into the eco, which can add up to a lot because alot of people join in day.

    heres what i'm thinking

so almost no new player goes to /warp tutorial they don't know what exactly what to do, so they just leave, keeping that 2.5k into the eco. How about, we spawn them into /warp tutorial, and when they complete it award them meebles (what ever is selected), this so if people just don't want to play on the server the 2.5k isnt generated in.

If 100 people a day join the server, and only 10 stay, thats about 225k spawned into the eco. Thats a lot of meebles that doesn't need to stay

    Thanks :)

    I have almost 35 alts.

What's to stop me from using all of them and getting a free 90k?
Or if someone uses a free minecraft alt service, and just basically generates money?

Besides a problem somewhat like that, sounds good to me.

I like the idea behind it but we took away the force warp there when you join the server because when someone new joins in tutorial that takes away from the wow factor of spawn. I think maybe once spawned in spawn they would be given a GUI maybe of stuff and help and a how to get started click here type thing that would send them to tutorial to obtain meebles to begin the game.

Or have them teleported to the tutorial if they go in one of the towny servers for the first time

The tutorial is helpful, however it's awfully outdated (eg it says you can play ctf) so staff needs to update that asap.

It really doesn't make a difference if 2.5k is spawned into the eco on an account that won't play the server - it's not going anywhere.

However I do like this idea, but it should only be implemented after the tutorial has been fully updated and remade in a way that is simple to understand, but still has all the needed information.

To add to your idea, maybe instead of giving each new player a set of wooden tools and leather armour when they log in, we could give them a set of stone/iron tools when they complete the tutorial. This would be it a lot easier for new players to start gathering materials at /warp wild, encouraging them to stay on the server.

I liked the old old old tutorial where it was a simple question and you "fell" into the answer and if it was right you moved on.

And new players hated it - If they got one wrong they would simply think it was a waste of time and then leave

The issue with this idea right now is that the Tutorial is hopelessly outdated. Instead of updating the Tutorial we have, we should improve the /help, and just make that superior to the actual Tutorial, that way players can instead use the GUI for that anywhere on the server. I've personally spent a lot of time in the Tutorial, and it is usually skipped anyways. Of the players that stayed long enough to get through it, they usually just blew right through it without stopping to even read anything.

But the players leave taking there 2.5K with them so the money isn't circulated and put into the economy (Baltop != Economy)
It should be bumped up to 5K

Yolo just auto give them money when they acually log on into the towny server (not just spawn)

I think that if we brought back this style of tutorial it could work, but if a player got a question wrong, instead of having to redo the entire tutorial, they just had to redo the one question or just move on with a message telling them the correct answer.

This keeps it simple but still gets new players to think and remember the basic facts about the server.
Some ideas for possible questions are:
    • How do you send a message to the whole server? (/g)
    • How do you join a town? (/warp gamma, /request)
    • How do you get back to your town (/warp gamma)
    • How do you gather materials? (/warp wild)
    • How do you make money? (/jobs, /vote, /shop)
    • How do you ask a staff member for help? (/modreq)
The information aspect of the tutorial should also reflect these questions to keep it simple.

This is very true, the 2.5k added into the eco when a new player joins means absolutely nothing unless they decide to play. However I do feel that it would be better to give each new player some better items to start out instead of raising the starting bal. I suggested before that stone/iron tools + leather/iron armour + food could be a possibility.

Right now I feel that /help is a bit too complicated for newer players. If we dumb it down to the questions I mentioned above + a few more then it might be reasonable to replace the tutorial, but we should then encourage players to run /help when they join a lot more.

There is no need for this right now, as the current Tutorial is hopelessly outdated, and we are working on something a bit different, that will serve the function of a Tutorial. Denied!
