The bias in which I am referring to is the notion that when a white cop shoots a black person it is met with riots while if a black cop shot another black person there would be nothing said. The situation appears to be "Black Lives Matter only if a black life is taken by the hands of a white man because then it must be a hate crime". The movement focuses on a minuscule amount of cases in which a black person is killed at the hands of white officers but never publicly condemns gang violence which results in many more black lives lost. The idea that "Black Lives Matter" shouldn't exclusively be held to castigate a small population of the police community that are pigs. I'm white and I don't love cops... For the most part they are arrogant and feel above people and just write out tickets. In all I think it is a biased movement to make an excuse for anti-cop and anti-authority rhetoric. White on black murders are significantly less than black on black murders and there are about 6 times the amounts of whites compared to blacks in the USA.... What does that tell you? Black Lives Matter completely ignores a majority of the problem and selectively goes after a small minority.

According to FBI data, 4,906 black people murdered other blacks in 2010 and 2011. That is 1,460 more black Americans killed by other blacks in two years than were lynched from 1882 to 1968, according to the Tuskegee Institute.

It would take cops 40 years to kill as many black men as have died at the hands of others black men in 2012 alone: And that is accounting for justified shootings.

So instead of going after cops why not focus on black on black crime? The answer is easy, we rather not look at that inconvenient truth because it is easier to pull the race card.

    "White people don't get shot"

So yes, you are a stupid sandwich.

I think, it is more of what you said. We have, in fact, more white officers. It's just a fact, I'm no racist. So when a white officer shoots a black person... :/ also, I'm preeeettyyyy sure some black cop has shot a white guy, and nothing was said, but that's good now it just needs to be that way with vice versa. Not saying any skin tone is better or this skin tone needs to do so and so, yada yada yada.

I have been trying to avoid talking in the debates thread for a bit but I have to say that that belief is complete and utter B.S. I am one of about 10 asians at my school of around 900 students (rest are about 1/2 white and 1/2 black with only a couple others who are Hispanic or from other ethnicities) and I would have to say that 70% of the racist comments, gestures, and actions that are directed towards me and my fellow Asians during school are from African-American students.

I believe that yes, there are still racial tensions in the world and that there are good people in this world fighting peacefully for complete civil equality but the Black Lives Matter group is not made up of these people. They believe that only black lives matter but I personally believe that all lives matter no matter what is different about you. Our differences are the things that makes each and every one of us special. Skin color, ethnicity, etc. do not matter in defining whose life is more important then others. We are all humans, we are all equally important, we all can make a difference in this world and change it for the better. We all live on this good Earth and we need to learn to take care of be respectful towards others no matter our differences.

Also in saying this, I know this is a bit off topic but @TheDebatheist I am sorry for acting like an immature child on the other debate thread. I hope you can find it in your heart to forgive me and to bury the hatchet.

All groups are biased. That being said, like any other group, a large portion of people within are absolute idiots. However, there are people within BLM that possess common sense, and occasionally say some interesting things.

But there has been forms of systemic racism within large portions of our society, even in law enforcement areas. It's no surprise that a section of people simply become angry, and shout nonsense, and act belligerent. Generally these topics tend to be an all or nothing debate, when the truth lies closer somewhere in the middle. We tend to align closely with groups that match our own view, and tend to dislike groups that differ.

In your opinion, why is there so much black on black violence?

The thing about it is, they pulled it out of nowhere and people started regurgitating it, they claim the dictionary definition of racism is not the actual definition. According to popular media, black people can't be racist because their definition of racism is "Prejudice + Power".

This is an issue where I often find myself disagreeing with people I usually agree with.
And then you see that black on black violence is much much much bigger problem. The media doesn't tell you that part. Because black people disproportionately live in poverty, the neighborhoods that cops need to patrol aren't the safest and most "welcoming". Often times this would lead to many joining gangs.

I think the thing people hate to admit is that black people are prone to more crime. And before people get their panties in a not, no this doesn't mean I think all black people are bad or that white people are any better. This doesn't necessarily mean that skin color makes you a criminal--because skin color doesn't really affect behavior. This just means black people grow up in a life style that makes such behavior more likely. This is a result of de facto segregation that is still part of our society decades after de jure segregation was legal.
The problem isn't cops. The problem is the system. If you want to end violence, then you have to get the crux of the problem.

Fund more education to prevent the incentive for kids to join gangs. Fund after school programs. Fix up the housing market in low-income areas. Stop throwing people in jail for drug use. And even if necessary, allow concealed carry in areas with high crime rates.

Only after you stop blaming the wrong people and accept facts will you see real change. The cry for attention in the media won't work if all they do is try to reform the way police work, which won't make a significant difference in the long run.

That's the purpose of a debate... you're supposed to discuss about the topic.

Honestly, I haven't heard of the Black Lives Matter movement. But, about the cops thing, it's pretty sad. If a white cop shoots a black man, everyone goes crazy. But if a black cop shoots a black man, no one does anything. That confuses me so much, because blacks call other blacks the N word just to state them as their "friend". If a white says it, they're just speechless.

I'm only stating my opinion about it, because I really do not know about this topic much. Sorry if I said anything wrong in any way.

I'll just provide statistics and give my opinion.

    - In 2012, white males were 38 percent of the population and committed 4,582 murders. That same year, black males were just 6.6 percent of the population but committed a staggering 5,531 murders. [breitbart.com]

    - In 2015, US Police shot / killed 1186 people (of all races) due to crimes OR false accusations

Yes, police violence is a problem. No, the majority of cops don't target blacks. Yes, black lives matter. I agree with the movement so long as it doesn't make any false accusations. Which unfortunately, it has. But no, the movement itself and the true message behind it is not Biased. In my opinion.

    - Officially signing out of this thread, have a healthy debate!

Well here it goes, I'm pretty sure I am going to be called a racist by many but I'm just stating what I believe to be true. In many areas where these crimes run rampant they are in poor areas where there is little emphasis on education. Many of young people (blacks, sorry) join gangs because they simply have nothing, no education, no drive, no sense of purpose, they want to be a part of something bigger and a gang gives them that. Politicians seem to think throwing more money at the problem will fix it (increased school budgets) but that yields very little results when the underlying cause isn't being treated, that being a lack of guidance (specifically referring to parenting). It more so stems from a cultural problem, when people are born into poverty and live in a hell hole filled with violence they will probably resort to it in the future. My mother grew up in a ghetto if you would like to call it that but her father put a huge emphasis on education. He was a good influence and led my mother to success. Trying to provide a better education for someone that doesn't have the drive to succeed and doesn't give a damn about advancing is useless.

I think that the BLM movement is sort of pointless. Police violence is becoming an increasing problem due to innocent people being killed by the people they are supposed to be 'protected' by. The real issue is that many policemen have an inclination to be more suspicious when patrolling low-income neighborhoods. The fact is that black people are more likely to live in poverty. Economically speaking, because their grandparents struggled financially due to racism in the work place and white supremacy, the common trend of poverty in black communities is still very much alive. Because police have stigmatized the poor population, I think it can appear racially biased, even if it isn't. There's too much energy being put in the Black Lives Matter movement, with literally no results. I haven't seen one 'change' that has come about due to the movement. It's just putting race where it doesn't belong. I also think the 'All Lives Matter' thing is equally as stupid, to be honest.

Now you have police being targeted and getting shot in their own police cars because the media has blown this all out of proportion. They have to be even more paranoid now and it just worsens the situation....
