A few ideas to reduce global spam

1. Remove the welcome message being global for every new member that joins, maybe make it so that the message is only viewable by the new person joining.
2. I think we can all agree that we should remove "vote spam" altogether as in don't show who voted and what they received.
3. I'd like to see the message saying "X team has won CTF and received 4000 meebles" removed too, since it's also unnecessary spam, especially during late hours for me when alot of people play ctf.
4. Airship spam, maybe reduce it to instead of it saying: 15 minutes, 5 minutes, 1 minute, to just 2 minutes, so we see the message once every half hour instead of 3 times.
5. This one is kinda weird for me, but I see staff members shilling for meepcraft ranks, while I'm all for people donating, I'm fairly certain most of us are aware what perks we receive with each rank and quite frankly I'd feel a bit silly if I'd have to shill ranks just because I'm staff.

That's it for me, I'm open to hear what people have to say, feel free to add your own ideas or tweaks to what I've already listed here.

At the very least remove the vote spam.
+1 for all except number 1.

 

For number 5, he means staff members clicking the signs at their spawn for messages like "Always believed you can fly? Now you can! Donate for ultimate!"


Anyway, I'm at a -1. To seasoned players the message mean nothing, and are easy to ignore. To new players, the messages can mean a fair bit, as they help the new player explore the server.

Plus, if you want to reduce global spam there's always /gtoggle

And what you're suggesting isn't even reducing it, it's removing it completely, along with everything else that isn't spam.

 

This is easily ignorable, hence its light gray color. Rarely do a significant amount of players join one after another to cause spam. Also those who run towns use this notification to help/scout players for towns.

We're working on this already I believe, not to remove it but another solution.

This is two lines of text approximately every 20 minutes, it's not really considered spam.

I think it should be reduced to 5m before and 1m before, it's rare people wait on the ship for 20 minutes or need 20 minutes of warning.

Staff don't have to advertise, we mainly just do it when it's relevant to the current discussion or we're bored tbh. I'm a +0 on this one.

 

Accepting idea #4, the other spam reduction ideas are pretty minor issues in the first place. Thanks for the suggestions!
