Removal of [Rank] before name in chat.

Instead of this : [Ultimate] ChaaseOG: Talking Talking Talking

Make it to something along the lines of this (For an Elite player) : SwagUnitedFC: Talking Talking Talking.

I discussed this a little bit in the town hall meeting but I thought I would bring it up again just for more discussion.

 

So like the name of the person is the color of the rank? If so then +1

There are two stances that I can see at the moment but I may edit this post later when I think of more. This proposed change would cause chat to appear less spam-filled due to the removal of redundant text. However, new users would be more unaware of what rank players are. This isn't necessarily a bad thing until it comes to discerning staff members from the rest of the community.

I personally enjoy the format of "[World] [Rank] Playername: Text here," but I do see the redundancy of this. The current paragraph indentation doesn't seem to help. I think even just a test trial of the proposed change would be good. Chances are that the community won't like it at first, but a vote could be held later to decide on which format is best. Staff ranks should probably still appear so that way the community can still see who is a part of staff.

 

It will make citizens feel more important and may even allow citizens to get more involved with the community as they will stand out more. Look at it like this, Citizens are less noticable the way it is now because they have nothing in front of their name while we have.

^ Look how unnoticeable citizens become from this layout. Whereas this layout would make chat more clean and give Citizens a chance to get noticed:

(Obviously the "Message" will be in white like always but if I make it white you won't see it ;3)
The only problems I guess would be choosing a colour for the Citizens to have as their name. I'd probably say grey, not sure and also how to make people aware of who is staff would be a problem.. Maybe instead we could just have a '[H] Username: Message' to show the person as a helper. Also maybe like this we could have it so we can still see the staff donator ranks, for example: '[H] Username: Message' Then we would know that this helper has the Elite donator rank also. I think we should atleast try it

In my own opinion, a small change like this could make a great change in the amount of active players. But that's just my opinion.

 

Well, there are no ranks when you see a person visually in game. All it is are colors

 

Seems good, this would be better as Meep are trying to clean up chat anyway.

 

+1 I remember when i joined meep, i couldn't even read the chat due to all the colors. By the time i got used to it, but i guess this will help citizens stand out more.

The colors are easy to memorize, and theres nothing wrong with citizens asking what the colors mean.

And I enjoy the unique knicknames when they are used. Woodenhoe etc

 

And some current players that don't really have the colors memorized.
