Introduction: Hi, I'm Anthony. My old account was CaptainGooch. The staff positions that I have held were trialmod/mod/supermod/tech. The people who have been around for a while will remember me, anyone who has joined during 2014 may not. I resigned way back in the day because I was starting to get busy with work and life. I moved out to Florida about a year ago and work has been slow... lots of time to get my meep on.

Why you should be Helper? I have lots of experience being a mod on this server, and have ran multiple servers. I've seen many people asking for help in game and only a handful of mods on... Heck, earlier today Deinen was so busy with modreqs he didn't have the time for a small chat. Anyways, long story short, I have the experience, knowledge, and time.

What are your weaknesses? A beautiful smile... and meebles... gotta love meebles.

Please give any other information you might think is useful for us to know: I know people will have mixed feelings about me coming back on to the staff because they haven't seen me around for sometime, and that is understandable. I have been back for about 2 weeks straight now and don't plan on going anywhere soon. Please note that my primary IGN is DirtyCanadian as I no longer use CaptainGooch.

Experience or not, that doesn't make you any better. You haven't been on forums, or at least posted on forums, since February 9th, made a post today, and then made this application. You've had very few forum posts since you've came back, and have had terrible forum activity, which is vital to being a staff member, as you should know.

Your "Why" section wasn't good, or even exceptional imo. Only a couple sentences give us an overview of why you would want to be staff. I have experience and time, a lot of people do. But what makes you stand out, besides your very old experience? 4 sentences, not even all of them relating as to why you should be staff, is definitely not enough, and doesn't show me why you should be staff. You should know as an ex-staff member how to make an okay why section, especially as a 25 year old.

Your weaknesses section, I'm sorry, was absolutely terrible. Like 1 sentence, and they are not even real weaknesses. A smile???? You don't see their faces. How does that affect you? Also, how will meebles affect your job? Actually, that makes me not trust you at all, as you could use your staff knowledge, commands, and abilities to abuse and make Meebles. You didn't say how you can improve on your weaknesses, making me think you are too lazy to do so. Also, it makes me not want to trust you, as you do not seem like you are going to make these weaknesses greatly affect your job. Again, you should know how to make an at least eh why section with your staff knowledge and your 25 year old knowledge.

You just came back 2 weeks ago. How are you supposed to help new players of you don't even know what's new, what has changed, what has happened, and more? It seems to me that you came back 2 weeks ago, disappeared, came back again, then applied. You seem to only want staff, and that's not good. You should wait at least a month after coming back before applying again (unless you really make an effort like Castro did). Even if you have been on, you haven't really made it known, which you really should do before applying for staff.

You probably made the app in 30 minutes tops, and didn't even think it through. There seems that no effort is put into this application. If you don't have enough effort to make an application, how do you have enough effort to be a staff member? I'm only 13, and my apps were so much better than this.

I don't see you in shout. I'm not on that often, but I haven't really seen you at all, in all three aspects of the server. You really need to make yourself known again, and be involved with the server once again.

Deinen, you know I respect you greatly, and don't let this affect our friendship, but don't you think this is a bit biased? I mean he may know how to work, but he just came back, and he probably doesn't know some things that a lot of people know.

Overall, you're not ready for staff yet. You have not shown me what makes you stand out, and your app only made your case worse. You just came back, and I think you should wait a while before applying again before being denied. I don't know how you can help out new players when you just came back yourself, and have no/little experience with the current state of the server.

But, Deinen gave you a +1, so you'll be accepted anyways.

I hope staff don't ignore this comment and take it into consideration. I didn't spend this much time making this comment to be ignored.

And @CaptainGooch, I know I was harsh on you, but I know that if you work on those things, you'll be ready in a month. Please do not take that as I dislike you, just my very strong vote on this application to avoid staff being biased.

I'll add to this if I see any improvement, or if I think of anything else to add to the -1, or the comment in general.

Yes, my vote is absolutely biased. I have been encouraging him to apply pretty much since I saw him come back around. The reason I did this is because traditionally he has shown over and over again in his previous stints as staff, he has the capabilities. That is my priority when considering any single applicant. Do they have the capabilities to not only be a great, effective, and efficient helper, but I want candidates that I can see them down the road in roles of mod or even supermod.

To reiterate: Does he have the capability to answer modreqs and help new players? Yes.

I mean, clearly you are if you write up this massive multiparagraph thing about his application and how it sucks. You know how much his application means when he has been super mod before and has tons of server experience? Basically nothing.

Ayee to be honest I never even read applications, frankly I don't see the correlation between fancy writing and being an asset to the server, I think I was mod when you were tech, not too sure but I do remember you were very helpful back then, so yeah,

Gooch, you're an awesome guy, and you were a fantastic staff member. I enjoyed working along side you. You have a ton of experience and are very helpful. You know how things work around here and you understand the plugins that the server uses well. With that being said, it really concerns me that you're only just coming back to the server. I haven't put forth an effort to be staff since I came back because I want to get reacquainted with the community (not that I want to be staff again), and I think you should take some time to do that before becoming staff again. If this application gets denied, and you're still wanting to be a staff member again in a couple weeks or a month and are more active, I will definitely give you a +1.

 

I hate it when old players come back and they get staff just because they were awesome a year+ ago.
