    Yeah, "Anime" is a Japanese animation with manga, like Pokemon or YuGiOh that can also be considered an Anime for example.
    Yes, I highly recommend you give it a try.. WARNING HIGHLY ADDICTIVE WARNING
    If you do consider watching, you should start off with something small, maybe SAO (Sword Art Online) or Toradora, but thats just my opinion.

    Anime is not a genre...

    Anime is Japanese cartoon based off of Manga. Manga is basically the Japanese version of comic books. Anime can be just like any other show, except that it's animated and there's manga to it.

    For example; The genres of SAO are fantasy and romance.

    It doesn't even have to be a style, actually. Shin chan is an anime, and it has a very western-cartoony style to it. Anime is basically just Japanese animation with manga. :)
