Iron was increased up to the point where you could find iron basically anywhere. Coal's generation should be increased. It is very scarce right now and they usually spawn either in a singular value or up to 3 at most, which is absurd.

You can. But it still doesn't make sense how coal's generation rate is this significantly lower compared to Iron.

There are situations where you can't "just use charcoal."

This 'extreme' server is starting to get a bit easy if you keep making these changes.

I understand where you're coming off but the point here is, coal generation rate is absurd. The fact that it should be more common than iron in regular minecraft should be a thing. I would understand it if they can be hard to find but they all clump together. But with the custom generation, they only have 1-3 in a group, which isn't viable.

    Extreme.

I'm not saying this is a bad idea or a good one, just trying to see where this is coming from. What abilities does coal have that charcoal is not were I to add the ability to turn charcoal into coal blocks?

Coal has obvious purposes. To be fuel or to trade. Meanwhile, charcoal is more expensive since you use wood logs, resources that you need in building and crafting stuff.

However, we can also create a level of efficiency on both things. The other being more efficient compared to the other. But this might complicate things.

The only point here is to possibly increase the amount of coal that spawn together.

Like trading? Well I don't think they want us to mass produce coal for trading, considering that this is extreme.

When we get better fortune picks, if this suggestion is implemented, the value of coal will be virtually nothing.

I already have a fortune 3 pickaxe and it still doesn't do much. The value of iron has been significantly dropped than coal because of the buff. Which was too much.

I agree. I don't know why iron generation was increased to this extent. Nevertheless, your logic here is "iron should be rarer than coal" which is not a valid reason for changing game mechanics.

Edit: I'm saying this because I personally felt that the supply of coal would be adequate if we had fortune 4/5
Edit 2: in other words, the value of coal should be independent of the value of iron

Wither skeletons are already a renewable source of coal. Don't make this "too easy" anymore.
Extreme should stay extreme and true to its reputation of being harsh towards the player.

    No.

I think that, in order to maintain it's distinction from towny, extreme must lean towards harshness in the sense that resource management is important.

You don't have to smelt all of the iron you find; you're likely to never use it. Save coal for meaningful smelting and otherwise important progression. It's tempting to smelt a D-chest of iron ore, but it's entirely against the nature of extreme to be frivolous with scarce resources.

Iron should have remained scarce as well, but I digress.

Denied - coal is obtainable in other ways and will be attainable from dungeons in the near future.
