1.13 Progress

I've been playing singe-player 1.13 and noticed some improvements such as being able to place same-type chests next to each other. What's the roadmap for getting this?

 

To my knowledge, the current 1.13 update isn't compatible with the server because of reasons (see 2 messages below), so once Mojang releases a version compatible with all of Meep's plugins we would be able to update to 1.13, or at least make it possible for players to play using 1.13

That being said, 1.13's significant changes to biomes and other stuff would take a long time to update, and 1.14 is to come out early 2019, so it's possible that we'll wait to update to 1.14 when it comes out.

 

Is it an issue where plug-in developers haven't updated their code to be compatible with 1.13? I'm not all that familiar with Minecraft's modding scene so I'm unsure how they work in a maintenance perspective or like if data loss is common with plug-in upgrades.

 

Upon its release, Minecraft 1.13 was incompatible with worlds generated prior to 1.13.0. When attempting to update, the world would experience complete data corruption and be irreparable. It has only been within the last month that Spigot (the primary server software) has been made relatively safe to update. This means we've only been able to really work towards updating within the last month.

Minecraft 1.13 is an enormous update for server software due to the implementation of the new item ID system. In Minecraft 1.12.2 and below, every item was assigned a numerical value. This was a limited amount of items that was hit in 1.12's release. To allow for more items to continue to be added, a new item ID system was created that eliminates the numerical system. This has caused numerous issues with the majority of plugins. To make themselves compatible, Spigot released a new material API that any plugin designed prior to 1.13's release is not compatible with. Essentially every plugin must be built from the ground up again.

Regardless, we are working to make sure Meepcraft updates to Minecraft 1.13 as soon as possible. @LordInateur has been working constantly over the last few months in preparation. However, we do not plan to update until certain it will occur without issue to preserve the hard work every user has put into the server.

If it isn't compatible, then how come we can log on with 1.13?

We can log on using a Minecraft 1.13 client for the same reason we can log on with a Minecraft 1.12.2 client. The server itself runs in Minecraft 1.12.1, however we have compatibility plugins that make it compatible with multiple Minecraft versions.

We are not required to reset any world to update to Minecraft 1.13. However, we will voluntarily be resetting Wild to provide access to the new resources added in Minecraft 1.13.

 

Can the wild world be up for download since it’s a older one with some cooler builds
