Is this a good computer to buy?

Gaming no but school it's fine. Will last you probably three years before you get annoyed and want a better one. I recommend a tower but if you need a laptop spend $1000 now on a top of the line, easily repairable machine that you can carry around. You will probably keep it for a decade if you are capable of repairs (very easy with a simple small device toolkit and online videos). Don't get a Surface because you need to remove the screen to work on them and you will probably break it eventually. Macbook pro top tier from 2015 (before butterfly keyboards) is a good choice if you will do any unix related work but if you need winAPI for cpp then a windows machine is a must because you don't want to VM or dualboot your macbook every time you do development. You can also build a laptop with a raspberry pi or just buy your own microprocessors, PCB, and other basic electronic components to construct your own circuitry. It can take months to build your own machine from the circuit parts but if you do I am sure you will not regret it. I built my own, here is an article with a similar story:

I bought the computer but got the 16 ram model and 1 tb for 400$ should work good for gaming and school

It has no GPU, only ancient intel graphics. It'll be TERRIBLE for games. Minecraft will struggle.

Will also have crappy battery life because that's an ancient laptop that has been used by someone else (refurb).

Should've splurged for a newer laptop that will actually last more than 3 months and will run well.

Also I haven't seen something stupider than "16 ram" in a long long time.

I7 Intel is very good and I have my laptops battery out all the time when I’m home lol and Reburbs I don’t mind and it’s a 2015 model so alotbetter

They're referring to the Graphics Card, not the processor. Intel Graphics are awful.

For light gaming and school work its a decent PC. Dont listen to half these people, they just go off what reddit says. I have the same laptop for cutting vinyl in my workshop and it gets the job done 100% of the time. For the price its hard to beat.

Clearly, they wernt trying to buy a brand new, top of the line tower. Everyones got a budget, try being more open minded and less blinded by internet likes.

This will run MC fine, but dont expect to play any AAA titles released in the past few years. I7 with 16g, this will be awesome for work though.

You should know that when it refers to laptops, CPUs have certain integrated graphics they are compatible with. If you hear a laptop has an I7, you can bet its got the newer of the graphics integrations. Which btw, all run minecraft.
