    If someone wants to run some dinky little town with three people in it, then they should be able to run some dinky little town with three people in it. If you want people to settle in medium to large sized towns, you should be finding some way to incentive that behavior through gameplay rather than trying to keep players who do not want to be part of large towns from playing the game in the manner that they want to.

    Nation Upkeep: 25,000
    Town Cost: 250,000 (50k to town bank)
    Outpost Cost: 2,500
    Town Plot Claim 2,500
    Town Plot Upkeep: 250 (or Town Resident Upkeep: 1,000)

    So the answer to this is to forget abotu plot upkeep then letting ANY town get a big as they link for "no PLOT upkeep" but change the towny settings to the "RESIDENT UPKEEP" method. So charge towns upkeep PER PLAYER I suggest 1,000 per player per day!

    Partially true... From voting ALONE a new player can get ~150k in 10 days or less easy! (yes you are correct only 4k per day is from NEW and 14k is from EXISTING)

    Fake News! This is not the sole problem, though it is currently a key factor, the PROBLEM is the poor eco controls (or lack of) in place on the server.

    Nation Cost is fine, town cost should be around 500,000 or more. Outpost should be around 5,000. Claiming plots for 1,000 each is fine and so is the 50 meeble daily upkeep.

    I understand what you are trying to do, but if you know what this chart means, my numbers are right in the crosspoint! If you want it to do as you like the best, the numbers I posted (for all prices of towny) are optimal.

    You seem to forget that no one can afford 5x the upkeep. Detroit would cost 125k a day to upkeep.

    And what does a town with 25 people need 500 plots for then? Downsize perhaps! OR we need to change to the resident tax system instead of plot tax system, so towns can get as large as they want for MINIMAL upkeep (using the resident tax system).

    Not a bad idea. But with your suggestion above, the largest town, Legend, would have a daily upkeep of 376,000 meebles.

    we all konw there are not even 376 players on this server, legend would "downsize" quickly then, but still be able to keep their land size.. If we use the town "detroit" listed above as an example: currently 25 people 500 plots pays 25k in taxes (plot system) and (resident system).

    The difference is at this point, we have to decide as a server do we "value" more Plots or more Players in towns? Historically meep has "valued" plots! So they can give new players a chance to have a nice big town for cheap! If this is the case, it only makes sense to use the "resident" tax system.

    If you value a large number of "DEAD" players in your town and an increasing cost set to hinder players creativity, then use the "plot" tax system. Basically, meeps towny/eco plans have always contradicted each other, I just want to get them both on the same page.

    All "Horenmans Narcissist Ruse" set aside, Hornemans actually does know what he it is talking about (contrary to popular belief that stats otherwise).

    The answer to your suggestion is NO. This would affect not only the biggest towns but also the smallest. Keep the tax to its price, increase the prices for creating a town, claiming a plot, etc., Not the taxes.

    Right, let's make it so unaffordable to make a town that everyone lives in tiny 1 plot hamlets.
    It seems foolish to me to make it impossible for people to maintain a town. The point of this very suggestion is to create a better community, not drive towns out of business. It is far easier to create a small hamlet and maintain yourself with larger upkeeps. Big towns pass on their expenses to their residents, and frankly I don't think we're going to gain any players if towns start setting their taxes to 500/plot when they only start with 3k.

    I agree, however my suggestion actually makes it easier to maintain a LARGER PLOT town (if you use the resident tax system).

    However, with my numbers (using the "plot tax" system) a 1 RESIDENT hamlet can easily maintain at 64 PLOT town by voting daily (which takes less than 5 mins to get 16-18k+). Not sure why you think that is soooooo impossible?

    Sell upgrades to reduce upkeep costs?
    Like you would start out with 250 per plot and you can upgrade to 200 per plot and 150 per plot and so on until you get to a minimum of 50 per plot?
    It does take money to make money, but I'm not really confident my idea would work. I guess you can think about it.

    I understand where you're going with this resident tax system but there's no advantage to using the resident tax over a plot tax. By having players pay the same amount as each other, player's who own more plots (taking more of what is a limited resource to a town) are treated as if they own only 1 plot. The plot system prioritizes the needs of the town, allowing the town to easily protect the limited resource of plots while still having the flexibility of cost for new and old players without preventing old players from buying lots of plots. There are advantages to also having resident tax enabled, but these advantages only work while in parallel with plot taxes.

    My biggest problem with the argument (money's easier to get from residents than plots) is that there are different players. I know that I could be inactive for a week or two without notice so I hoard money to be prepared. Some players are on daily and could deal with larger taxes by voting but others only get on a couple times a week. Most towns don't want to take as much money as they can from people because they're more worried with maintaining their player base. While increasing taxes makes it easier to financially support a town, plot taxes solves the problem by taking only how much is actually needed to support the town without assuming that none of the residents are casual players who can't earn money at very fast rates.

    +1 I think 500k is a good start if this is to be considered being implemented. I'm really tired of all those inactive 1 person towns or poorly managed towns created by inactive/immature players. I think 1 mil is a stretch for now, but we should start with 500k and see how that works.

    Definately, residents move out of towns make their own and then the town doesn't get any residents so they just quit, it's awful
