Hornemans - Ban Appeal

 

I disagree, just standing by and letting staff get away with abuse is a slippery slope to having a corrupt staff. I’ve played on enough small servers to know how easy it is for people to get power hungry and inflate their ego, I’ve even played a part in a corrupt staff and it is super easy to get carried away with it.

Even if this thread does nothing at all its still better than just letting it slide, at what point is staff abusing too much if this isn’t. I feel like any amount of abuse is too much.

Staff have never, and will never, treated everyone the same. Be it finances, nudes, or friendships, some people will always be buying a step ahead of the bans game. This is neither new nor temporary. Until some changes are made and staff stops hiding everything, the server will continue downhill as it has been these last few weeks.

 

I find this thread irritating,
I suggest revising the "usage of alts" section in the rules page, this whole situation is obviously because of this.

We are all humans if im not correct, stop picking at our common sense with this bull. I think we all know what the previous defined rules for alt abuse was.

 

I have to say that I believe that the ban (and unban) was handled incorrectly. Rules were pretty much re-adapted to create a bypass for a particular player, and that’s not insider information: that’s clear to everyone. The rule always existed and I feel as if the reasons that have been provided don’t tell the full story. I am not blaming anyone in particular because I don’t know who is truly in control of this decision, and everyone makes mistakes. What’s important is that mistakes are fixed.
I’m not really afraid of how my opinion will affect my position on the staff team, because what is most important to me is that the rules are followed and players are treated equally, not my helper position, and this did not happen here.

Thank you @Fuzzlr for updating the community on what happened, this explains a lot.

 

I have seen several instances where a player was OK'd to use duping methods, glitching methods, AFK machines, and others, to gain an advantage, and when they were banned they were not shown such mercy.

Why is this situation different, when it has been well known for literally years that alt abuse is not ok?
Edit: Voting and using alts to vote has also been known for years, by myself at least, and I remember having several discussions about it before, during, and after my being staff and all but one time I was told to not vote using an alt.

 

The point is that the old rules were vague as to whether what Hornemans was doing is punishable, since it was not specifically stated. With this case arising, staff members have amended the rules in order to specifically identify what Hornemans was doing as punishable. However, since the situation occurred whilst the old, vague rules were in place, Hornemans has not broken said rules and thus cannot be punished under them.

You could argue that by injecting money into the economy he was causing detriment to the welfare of the economy, therefore committing "acts against the server", however that statement in itself is incredibly vague and could be interpreted any number of ways. I know this probably isn't the place, but I would like to suggest that specific boundaries are labeled as to what qualifies as an "act against the server".

Nevertheless, I thank Fuzzlr for his response to this, as it outlines the situation in full and allows us the users to make reasonable and calculated conclusions.

 

This is the response people needed in the first place and not the ‘rE-ReAD tHe RuLEs’ mumbo jumbo. I’m glad you’ve provided a clear and full answer to this though, because as a result I think a less toxic and more thorough discussion can take place. Thank you for the clear up.
