The thing meep needs to work on is go get mojang to unblacklist us becouse Thats what is keeping so many people from joining
Once we are unblacklisted we will explode in player numbers once again GO MEEP!

 

Advertising is way too inefficient for what it’s worth, because once you stop paying the big bucks the players stop coming. It only works as long as you keep on paying for it, which adds up.

 

We’re EULA compliant, so I think that’s the first step.

 

If we were EULA compliant dont you think it would not take like 5 months for it to be unblacklisted? I mean like its literaly just like 2 hours of work to check xD

 

Here's my thought;
2b2t is 2 terabytes of data, with a constant 100+ players. Meepcraft is definitely less than that, (@LordInateur or Fuzzlr would maybe know) Meepcraft has less players too, a constant 20 (averaging 50 or so) so it should be cheaper to run than 2b. Now, 2b'a servers are rented from the Archon to be cheaper, and we know Onis hosts other servers too. This means Meep may theoretically cost more to run (at the cost of better maintenance) but still less than 1500USD/month, I'm guessing its expensive, but not over 1600. As far as advertising, I really don't know how much it costs. Klutch has claimed to be buying some out of his own pocket (a stunt to improve his public image perhaps) but I don't necessarily think it's a "loss". Bloody claims that Fuzzlr has earned 500,000USD off meepcraft, so I assume that means he takes a chunk of the revenue.

This is all speculation, but tldr I don't think meep is losing money

No I don’t, because there’s definitely hundreds of blacklisted servers out there that Mojang has to deal with along with whatever their doing. Also, don’t quote me on this, but I’m pretty sure you need to send a letter wherever requesting that they reevaulate the server’s compatibility. Nothing is ever that simple really.

I don't have the daily stats for 1-20, I didn't start daily stats until 21st. I only had the months start data. I will have complete daily stats from April onwards.

Not sure where you got your figures for the 2b2t servers (if you have it I would like to see the link), but if meepcraft is paying more then $500 a month for server service they are wasting money (I doubt they are paying more then $200 a month right now). $500 a month is more than enough hardware to run a 500 player server.

That is only the average for the month there is no statistical data yet to prove that is a constant or any reliable amount to base anything off yet.

Servers are not that expensive, see above note about what $500 a month, however, I do agree that advertising is usually negative or break even at best, but it overall grows the player base.

 

Sorry mate it was on a 2b podcast so I can't find the original source, however fitmc has a meme video about it and I think torogadude or a similarly big name veteran backed it up (in a separate video) with a snip of hausmaster (server owner) saying that. Now that the archon owns it I assume it's a bit cheaper

I think the extra-high cost is due to overcompensating for lag (as in "if we get a machine that's twice as good we get half the lag!!") but only Fuzzlr and Onis would know... maybe Klutch idk

 

To my knowledge Fuzzlr has done everythign he can, and everything is done correctly. The Meepcraft calim is waiting on Microsofts/Mojang Legal department to accept Fuzzlrs claim.

This is true, everything has been done to meet the "un-blacklist" requirements. It is just a matter of time (which that forever is also possible).

I do have similar stats (well as best I can), it is people registered on the towny server only. So if a player logs on and never goes to towny it doesn't count them, also towny removes people after I think 60 days by default if they don't log in maybe 90 days but not sure what Meep has it set too. Also, note the "new" players could include those that were removed the previous months but are now back active, so not necessarily first-time members. These are only for last days as well, I don't have anything before 20th for this either (April I will have it for the entire month).

Inactive Players Removed: 98

For the new player graph, that is pretty much every week i think. Lots of new res on friday saturday sunday, a lot less on monday tuesday, picks back up a little on Wednesday and thursday and then lots on friday saturday sunday etc.

 

Well advertising can be bad unless you do it correctly, The server searcher I use will actualy show sponsered servers before it shows the other ones so we could just like try it with 10$ to test it and if it fails we dont really lose much but if it works we would then get a ton of new players

 

Any more suggestions on what to include for next month?

 

Town sizes/Nation sizes for /towny top residents?

i haven’t played in well over a year but i dont think cost is the problem of advertising (at least not the main problem), more so can they deliver on what’s being advertised and can the server handle a big influx of new players.

 

As I understand, it's not even that, it's that advertising doesn't translate into long term players, just a quick influx of players who don't stay for long.

 

true that’s probably the biggest reason as to why, and i imagine it would be pretty hard to figure out if the few player who do stay were actually worth paying for the ads (im sure for the most part it isn’t tho)
