Remove Forced Plot Limit

So a few minutes ago I went to claim some more land to build another tower in the GMA, a collation of several cities, when a red message pops up "This area is too close to another town". Well, that has ruined my evening of building.

Server members know the 3 plot rule, so why have a plugin enforcing it? Not only does that seem like a waste of server resources (memory, techs), but it ruins plans for towns that are beside each other with permission. The GMA has had no issue before, and towns have claimed plots right beside each other, but now we can't.

I propose that the actual enforcement of the rule by a plugin is removed (not the actual 3 plot rule). Cases of infringement of this rule are so far and few it makes more sense to have these issues dealt with by staff instead of via plugin so as not to ruin the experience of other members.

Really this plugin is silly and should be removed. If you have reasons why you agree or disagree with me, please reply below, so I can explain why I agree or disagree with you.

+1 for removal, 100% agree. Very valid points and I think our wonderful staff is more than capable of enforcing such rules!

 

I think it shouldn't be removed because people might not notice they're claiming right next to another town. Instead, it would be better to change the plugin so it only warns the player that they're within 3 chunks of another town instead of stopping them from claiming those chunks.

 

Well I just tried claiming again and it seems to be removed.

 

This is part of the "towny plugin" by default, it is not a separate plugin. It is a configurable item to set distance between towns (default is 3). It can easily be changed if necessary.

 

This should be working, moved to denied.
