Aye aye aye, got notifications from this thread, and remembered something my school-board is doing.

For "Pride month" they took down the Canadian flags and flew rainbow flags. Not only is it very disrespectful, but "provincial government's flag protocol, [which] states no non-official flags can be flown on public property". This is an excerpt from an article in which a similar schoolboard did this.

We need to basically say, no one is special. No one gets a month. Grow up.

lol canada sucks in every way anyway.

Bike month isn't about saying bikers are better than drivers, its just a cool thing to give people an excuse to celebrate.

Last I checked Canada wasn't $18,000,000,000,000 in debt. You're American right? well your debt is much worse than ours, and I'm fairly sure your budget isn't balanced either.

And my god we passed that bill, but at least it isn't law yet.

    A straight white man?

The Irish who immigrated here and were stealing johs from Americans in the 19th century don't count?

The Catholics who made Maryland in the early 17th century because they were discriminated against don't count?

To have the audacity to offend European culture by saying 'Lol, now you know how they feel' is extremely ignorant. We've all had our share of troubles in American history - so don't point the finger when your point contradicts itself.

I'm a little late to this thread, but I don't think SJW's should claim to fight for "equality" if they don't have a month for every little snowflake on this planet. You can have Black History Month, Gay Pride Month, whatever, that's fine by me. Just don't claim that you want equality, claim that you want to stand up for a certain group, that's all.

He's using a generalization so I used the same one too:
I'm not able to 100% pin point someone's national origin without knowing who they are...

Yes mostly everyone on an individual level has had struggles in America. But on a general level Europeans have made the struggles existent, or worse, for other ethnicities: They've assaulted and demonized Indigenous Americans and Mexicans, they've enslaved Africans, forced Asians into internment camps, and demeaned women, to name a few.

Again, I can't magically guess his families national origins so logically I've had to make generalizations. But it's hard to deny that some groups may have had it worse than others; I'm pointing out that what he was feeling is how any discriminated group felt throughout history. How is that ignorant and contradictory?

The statement of your post brought up a good point, but it heavily accented the idea that white people haven't had their shares of troubles - in which case they were also discriminated and treated poorly. It's contradictary because your vouching for equality for groups of people that went through hardships and then you dismiss other people's hardships by saying they were nonexistent. In general, it was mostly white protestants that caused these ripples in society in the past. Because America has most of the time had an abundance of white prostestants, people usually generalize them as 'white people' and pawn off the KKK as a group of all white christians.

    'A straight white man?'

    Is very vague.

Bike months aren't an attack on drivers. There are all sorts of dumb holidays, just chill tf out. There's no problem with just having these months as a concept, when they get put into practice they get out of hand sometimes though...

Tangent: So its ok to inquire about someones national origin over the course of normal conversation right?

No European alive today is responsible for any of that.

Doesn't matter, you don't get to be evil to other people just because someone was evil to someone else.

I am not saying they are nonexistent. I am showing that what he feels is similar to how those minorities also feel, as a way to relate the two groups together. They felt offended, left out, etc etc. If you can show me where I said the hardships are nonexistent I will concede that point but so far I don't believe I've dismissed anything as non existent I've merely related the feelings.

What I may be dismissing is him using the tactic of victimizing himself to stop their celebrations. I've never said someone cant be proud of their heritage, but they shouldn't stop other people's pride as well, which is what he wanted to do.

In my opinion this is not acceptable. Many people do not feel comfortable giving this information out and its respectable to never ask someone what their race/ethnicity is.

They are not responsible, but many white males still reap the benefits that the forefathers brainwashed this country with. I'm also a white male, and I firmly believe in white privilege.
But you haven't even heard my evil laugh yet :(

    Muahahhahahhahhahahhhahah

What was "brainwashed" into the country that's still relevant today? Can you list any impacts you think white privilege has had on any statistics?

Funny how every snowflake gets triggered when we make generalizations but you're generalizing an entire continent over a period of 250 years right now.

The rest of your argument is a textbook strawman fallacy. I thought I was doing you a favor by not responding to it.

'Lol! Know you now how they feel!'.

I'm not sure whether or not you're directly refering to him or to whites in general. Considering that he's white, wouldn't it seem that from a reader's standpoint you mean just whites?

Blacks, Hispanics, and women can vote now, the overwhelming majority of blacks and women alive today never knew a time when they couldn't vote. There are a bunch of hispanics who can't vote but that's because there here illegally.
Currently blacks and hispanics get special help going to school, so that should be all cleared up.
I don't think society deemed women as undesirable, I think that society desired women a little too much *wink wink*.
Blacks, Native Americans, Mexicans, LGBT+ are no longer seen as "undesirable" by society.
God forbid anyone feel left out for features they had no control over.
