Could someone who has a helper interview accepted do the interview in game if they can't get discord/teamspeak or voice stuff like that

 

I am not sure about this, but I think that I've heard that you need discord and need to do the interview to become a staff member or you get auto denied. I think I have heard this from someone, but if I'm not right please correct me.

 

It is required to do it over discord. There's only been a few exceptions due to connection problems, but that's when the person normally has a mic and can normally talk and stuff. If you can't do an interview you get denied

There's been one time where the TS server was down (When meep still used TS) and they did it via skype instead, and there was 1 or 2 where someone's connection was crap and their mic was cutting in and out so they typed the answers but they were still on discord and the person hosting the interview still did the questions via voice. But overall the activity on discord etc is necessary regardless.

Buy a mic, then apply. They don't cost that much nowadays.

 

There sre two points to the interview being hosted on discord. Yiu should be both active on discord in general and talkative to people and all friendly like, and a voice interview is much easier that a typed interview.

You could try downloading discord on a phone, orr if you have a laptop check and see if you have something built in. Otherwise, you can get a pair of earbuds with a mic for like $10, if that, and itll do the job.

You need a mic and need to be able to use it to be a staff member. No questions, no exceptions; you need to be able to use it. If connection issues or mic issues occur at some point, that can be worked around, but to apply you need a working mic.

Like Ellie said, it's not just the interview. First of all, if you happen to get staff and moderator, then you'll likely participate in interviews for Helpers. Then there's staff meetings; the people who are using text are always at a disadvantage, because speaking is so much faster at getting your point across than text, and people naturally miss what you say if they aren't looking. For example, I was almost always writing notes for meetings when I was staff (meaning, literally on a separate page and listening to the meeting while typing) and yet I was still one of the only people calling out the things that people said in text. It's just impractical. Then there's the rare, but still present situations where you need to handle an emergency with a player or other staff and the best way to do that is through speech.

So TL; DR: to answer your question, no. You can't be (or apply for) staff without a working mic and a Discord.

Ah, alright, that makes sense. I honestly had no idea - if they removed it before I was demoted, I don't think it was very long before.

I'll edit my post to reflect it, but I believe mods still being in Helper interviews is a thing, right?

 

Helpers interviewed by mods + and helpers get promoted to mod and are let known by a super/admin when they're being promoted

Yep, it sure does I was especially inactive in the last few months of my time as staff because of stress with school which is what tipped it over the edge.

You can buy a mic anywhere really. (Even one at Wallgreens for a few bucks). A high quality mic is nice, but a basic one will do.
