Random Discussion of the night: My car accident *Pictures included*

Out of my 2 years (at the time) of driving, I knew at some point in my life I would be in a car accident. I was hoping it was small and nothing major. Unfortunately, it happened and it was easily one of the scariest days of my life. I had a friend that was moving back to his hometown and as a goodbye, we decided to call some friends up and go to a popular ice cream shop in the city. So we got in the car and we were on our way to get one of our friends. I was driving and I had my friend in the front seat. We were coming up on this intersection when all of the sudden my friend yelled "BRENDEN!" and it happened. I remember the point of impact. I felt the car nearly flip over. I swerved left and right which ultimately saved us from flipping the car. I had no idea what happened still. I look down and my entire dashboard had lights flashing at me and I look up to notice smoke coming out of the engine. I soon realized what happened. I got out and soon realized, a girl no older than 17, ran the red light and hit me. I sort of lost my cool and began screaming and yelling at her. Except I noticed something was not right. My friend didn't get out of the car. I ran back to my car and he was hyperventilating in the front seat. The force of the accident and the car slamming to the ground caused him to twist his back and land on the seatbelt buckle. I also start freaking out too realizing what could've happened. My airbags were recalled due to a design flaw in the airbag causing metal shards to fly out. I was so thankful in this instance that they didn't deploy. I called 911 and they were there within minutes. Luckily, everyone involved was okay. An investigation found that she was texting which is why I am highly against texting and driving. Problem was that the car was so damaged, it was not driveable. The car was towed and I had a rental for a month (Which I loved). $5,000 and a month later, my car was all fixed. Also my car is the Black Ford. Please guys, stay off your phone. My accident could've been worse.

 

When we are on the road it infuriates me seeing people on their phone, if something is that important for you to not pay attention to the road pull over.

I didn't but my friend did. She paid for his medical bills. She paid for my car since she was deemed fully at fault.

 

Was she by any chance driving a white Jetta or Bmw...

 

No. She was driving a 2008 Audi A4. The Audi that dumped antifreeze is hers.

Yeah suing her was not easy. I only got about $5,000 from them to fix the car. Sold the car for $2,000. It doesn't even go to her directly. I moreso dealt with her insurance company which is the same one as mine. That created a ton of problems. Luckily, they just mailed my friend a check for the bills and that was that.

Sorry that happened. I always yell at my mom to get off her phone when we are in the car. I threatened to throw it out the window (that got her off it).
