Staff just raised upkeep per plot. It's now 100 and not 50. They did not supply a warning but us with towns have to give seven days to change taxes. We should at least be able to change them right now.

    Discuss.

How is being able to change your plot taxes right now without warning fair to the residents?

The problem is, how is it fair to the mayors that upkeep was changed suddenly?
(Not saying I think allowing on an increase on residents is fair. it isnt.)

Is this really all you do? The tax was meant to be 100. Servers been up for 3 days lol. Obviously things will be changing. Should I remove all towns and money made that was too much?
I dont see you crying to remove money because the bonus wasnt supposed to be 1% per level but it was.

Would it hurt to put up a message "Hey guys, we made a mistake with setting the plot tax. We will be changing it from X to Y in a couple of days. Thanks for understanding."

This is just some weird double standard to expect town staff to put up a 7 day warning for their residents, but you double the price without a slight notice.

This. I don't have a problem with the increase but we should at least be able to change taxes to match the upkeep at least... Wtf

It wasnt something we planned. It was on a list for reggles and he saw it, did it, and we moved on. It did not affect anyone.

    Wow wth 100
That makes it almost impossible to maintain a town.

So can we at least raise taxes within 7 days
    --- Double Post Merged, Jan 17, 2017 ---
Also there is clearly a widespread public hatred for this so why are you doing this

Exactly my point; you didn't plan. If buttfly haven't had made this thread, would you have even bothered with informing the players?

Anyways, how exactly did this change 'not affect anyone'? I would think that it affected some town's majors. Oh, wait. All of them, surprisingly.

They are clearly changing something nobody's in the community wants. This will MAJORLY affect every single town. I'll explain when I have a bit more time...

This means you can tax more or less easier.
This means different people will join a town, you will be catering to different people to appeal with a higher tax.
Im not sure what youre ocmplaining about. Youre just clicking buttons on a game. Its not even a very hard game.

    Ok... I'll explain

In large towns, most of your residents probably don't make more than the starting 2.5K. When plottax was under 25, this would be fine because you could tax enough to cover all expenses and have your residents stay in for the 60 day limit. Thus you have to replace every resident every 60 days. When upkeep is raised to 100, that number drops to 25, and that assumes you don't have ANY public plots.

No my point is that I will have to work 8 times as hard to support a town 2/3 the size as the one I owned in gamma.

Oh and I'll make 0.3% of the profit that I made in gamma.

Higher upkeep encourages larger towns that have less features (e.g. Public Farms, Roads.) Like Beta mooville and Gamma (Town)

Not if ya play your cards right, you can do pretty much whatever if you're damn convincing enough. You just gotta make sure you are.

Total upkeep for plan of town:18400
    Total residents:125
    Total required tax: 147.2
Average Time a resident will stay in the town:16 days
    Recruiting requirement per day:7.35 residents

That assumes I want to cover the costs with 0 profit. This is the problem with 100 upkeep.

You clearly have never had to manage a large town for a significant portion of time.

I've owned and managed towns for nearly all my time of meep, many of them profitable.
This is a new eco. Stop thinking like the old eco. Charge more if you want. You should be able to. If your town is good enough, you have spaced out and efficient staff and recruiters, as well as using other resources and making money in ways besides the town itself, you'll be fine.

All of my profit is going just to keep our town up now, and we arn't even that big yet
    --- Double Post Merged, Jan 18, 2017, Original Post Date: Jan 18, 2017 ---
We are earning money other ways, and that is the reason our town still up. The staff is donating an arm and a leg.
