    I'm gonna ramble. A lot. Feel free to call out on the silliest crap. I'm really tired.

    ------ Eco ideas

    Keep the jobs and the same basic style of donor shop that we have. Remove the gold trade, and add in a trade for a few different items, some basic and some not, that actually fluctuates based on supply and demand. Like how gold used to be, or the automatic meepshop. There should be no more than a dozen items in that shop. Vshop should have a cap of how many of X item can be put up at one time (example: only 1000 diamonds can be up at a time total. Only 10K stone. Only 5K logs. whatever.)
    OR don't even add the /shop at all. The eco when we had chest shops only was the strongest it had been in awhile. it inspired lots of creativity and working ot keep your shops up and a visual and obvious location for any player to sell their items. It's less confusing to a new player tbh.

    Add in more quests. make a team. Varying levels of difficulty, optional side bits, rewards, easter eggs.

    Bring back events in full force. Make it exciting. give out special prizes sometimes, such as a custom head, an Eff 6 pick, extra god armour, a sharp V bush lol. but you get it, make people really want to play.

    Make a nice tutorial. a NICE one, with current and accurate info. Start players off with $500, they get $2500 when they finish the tutorial. Clearly state that fact at the first spawnpoint.

    Remove helper as we know it and bring back the kind of trial mod style. People will be "helper" for 2 weeks to prove themselves. If they prove capable and/or useful, they get to be mod. Everything that a moderator does can very easily be handled by a helper - it's honestly not that much responsibility. If I can do it alone as a helper/mod for 4-5 months, an entire team should be capable of figuring it out. It all starts with training them how to do the mod stuff, which no one does.

    Seriously, add factions.

    Make sure jobs and shop and /shop won't break in a week because people are terrible at setting their own prices. set limits at first and you can remove them later. Maybe you do have to hold the people's hand for a little while.
    Don't promise things you can't keep and don't promise a due date, you're terrible at that, the whole lot LOL
    Never add a second towny world again.

    Remove caps filter. Enforce the 3 words of caps rule. Remove all chat filters in /msg.
    Promote the other types of gameplay more, because kit and skyblock are basically dead, the minigames are boring because there are no solid amount of people that play, make things EXCITING
    Stop warning so goddamned much - a /kick IS a warning.
    Be more loose in general, honestly the community is tearing each other apart half the time with the tenseness.

    Maybe I'm misunderstanding this. Are you saying that one player should have caps on the amounts of stuff they sell individually (Metr0n0me lists 10k logs, Munnkee lists 10k logs, Jeffhill lists 10k logs, etc.)? Or should there be caps on the total number of items in the shop, regardless of player (10k logs total between all sellers?)

    I liked the Vshop, the 5% tax was a nice way to take some money out of the economy, and all the money didn't go to the people with nice /pwarp names (or the ults who advertised a ton). With the vshop it was possible to undercut, and new players could make money by selling directly to buyers, as opposed to selling to large shop owners for bad prices.

    I completely agree. To add to this, it would be nice if tutorial was updated when new plugins or things are added.

    While it is a towny server. I think factions with 1.8 pvp could be refreshing and some fun.

    I CANNOT STRESS THIS ENOUGH. The fixed prices for /warp shop do not work at all. Supply/demand controlled prices are the only way to have a functional /warp shop.

    Thanks Muunkee, you expressed a lot of the thoughts that are going through everyone's mind's now. I agree with most of your points, however I do not think that Meep should veer away from Towny and into factions. As I have said before, Meep should remain a Towny server, and while they should maintain and update mini games, the focus should be on Towns, and get it standing on 2 legs before turning to other projects. I like your point about warp shop, I do hope that it should be non-existent or at least minimal. An actual tutorial that would be entertaining and engaging, and would make new players interested in Meep would be of great benefit to us. Thanks Muunkee for putting all this into words.

    But thing is, the undercutting possibility leads to, diamonds selling at 500. 499. 490. 475. 450. and it keeps going.
    Ye. Plus, there needs to be a high and low cap to avoid it going down to 0 or going up to like 10K for... some gold.

    I'm not sure I agree, since this will allow one seller to monopolize entire items at a time. Say the item cap for diamonds is like 10k. If someone amasses 10k diamonds quickly enough, he can control most of the item cap and force other sellers to fill in the small gaps. Maybe I'm not making sense.

    Say the server comes back up, and i get massive amounts of diamonds. I can then sell them all on the vshop and create a monopoly. Now other sellers won't be able to sell diamonds.

    Alternately, I can amass massive amounts of money, buy out all the diamonds on the shop, resell them for whatever I want, and fill the market that way. Now I can control prices.


    Eventually the prices will decline to a point where equilibrium is reached, i.e. people will buy the diamonds at the same rate people sell them. It was never a huge deal, and never caused huge fluctuations in price in the past.

    This thread is great, I've been thinking about what Meepcraft's ideal economy would be for a while, and this is my take on it. I understand its long but its well worth the read

    -MCMMO. MCMMO was deleted due to exploits that arise with it. With a smaller playerbase, however, its exploitation will be much more easy to monitor and much harder to do. MCMMO is also a familiarity with many new players who can instantly connect with it, its also much more thorough then jobs ever were.

    -Vshop economy. Although many people believe that non-vshop economies are the way to go, this is almost undoubtedly bad. Without vshop, people will only go to a collection of 2-3 stores to buy everything they need, such as ./pwarp shop or /pwarp shops. Because of this, people can't make new shops and compete with the big ones, because the big ones have the most familliar name and is therefore is the most popular.

    - One towny world. Much less confusing, we'll have less new players stuck in Alpha trying to seek a town when literally no one is there. Having a smaller town space will promote cooperation and excitement.

    As for factions? I dont believe our playerebase is big enough to make it also a faction server. I think we should stay a towny server. It will increase the density of our players instead of dividing the few we have, factions is a type of playstyle that is only fun with a large amount of people.


    Right now, the best thing meepcraft has going for it is a closely knit family. By being inclusive and promoting cooperation and player-focused economies, we can help foster that. This is probably our most effective way to gain new players.

    Honestly the tutorial as we have [had] it was lovely, just Heavily outdated.
    If we just said "use /help for help and use /g for global chat" in front of the /spawn point, thats very very open ended. Where do you go from there, as a newbie? Generally Ill bet they will try to play a minigame a little bit and leave.
    Little more of an intro to towny. Its all about how things are worded really. Id love to help with it and outline something.

    Would work for the current playerbase and for the experienced MC players, but in the case of new players (mostly kids) I think an 'in-the-face' tutorial is needed to get them going.

    +1 New jobs took months to complete and donor shop had cool items.

    -1 Gold was the stable currency and we don't need to remove it. It was a way of storing and it worked well. Now, a market that fluctuates based on supply and demand will be difficult because it will just deflate the whole time.

    The only issue with a supply/demand style shop is that Minecraft offers an infinite supply, but limited demand. Given time, the prices of most raw materials will be too low to offer any benefit to new players, which can hinder player retention.

    Can we talk about the chat filter too? It's absolutely insane, why is there such a stringent caps filter in place? I should be able to say a basic abbreviation without the chat filter screwing me up for it. Chat filter should be adjusted to make it only in place after 3-4 letters, and message chat filters should be removed entirely.

    I don't think supply and demand works fully in minecraft. People will always sell more than they purchase for a vast majority of items, with a few notable exceptions such as logs and diamonds. For some items such as spider eyes and sugar, there just simply wont be enough demand to make the selling of these products viable. Theres also no penalization for hoarding money, which is why I believe taxes should be put in place to encourage many to buy items much more, improving the economy.

    If we want Meepcraft to become an economy server, it's important to remove spawners. Spawners are completely cancer to an economy and make almost 50+ items worthless. By removing spawners, we can encourage jobs such as hunting.
