The Meepcraft Effect.

The Meepcraft Effect is a simple equation I've made up.

Towny Server = Players want to create their own town = 9/10 players owning their own towns = No space in towny worlds for more towns = Results in more towny worlds being added ea.. alpha, beta finally gamma = No players joining everybody's town which results in players quitting = Less revenue for the server.

Meepcraft needs a serious update. Lets look at Meepcraft's past to understand why the server was so successful.
Towns were expensive. Not everybody and their mother owned a town.
Item values actually fluctuated in value depending upon players buying or selling.
Focusing on Events (Server Drop Parties, TNT runs, wild hunts etc)
Focusing on the Towny Aspect of the server, not so much Mini-Games.
Custom Items specifically for the Towny world.

I'm not trying to bash on the server. I'm just pointing out it's flaws. Flaws that will hopefully be brought to light and fixed.

 

Its also due to minecraft being a dying game. People cant make content that people will stick around for. I don't think I've opened minecraft in 5 months.

 

Give me your stuff in beta!! I found your sugarcane outpost and such. If you're not active I'll gladly take off your hands.

 

Gamma was not added because alpha and beta were full, gamma was added to bring new opprotunity to the server

Not staff's fault. Player's fault. Items can fluctuate fine, if players were to stop undercutting each other and actually buy things.

I think the prooblem you're speaking of is that we simply don't have as much dev activity. There's not as much excitement right now.

Once jobs is up, more stuff will come out faster.

 

There's far more other larger towny servers, meepcraft is no longer in the competition, there's nothing that's going to change that without a large sum of money obviously which fuzzlr isn't going to invest in

all the servers but one towny world need to get shut down, meepcraft is that far down in all of the server lists which just looks like its advertised as any another hub server, meep will never bring in any new players from any minigame the servers just too small not to cater all the current gamemodes, if the server was advertised as solely a towny server then the player count would actually mean somewhat of an interest to any player looking at the server listings

 

Events and minigames are two different things. You can still focus on towny and do events, likewise you can focus on minigames and do events. It isn't one or the other for events and towny/minigames. For the server to do well, the main focus has to be either entirely on towny or minigames.

 

Muunkee I just want you to know I'm speaking directly to you when I say this. It's on the trello or added to the trello is a sad excuse for a to do list. The trello is the servers scapegoat, we throw down issues on it and ignore them for ever. Lets take the website shop bug on trello. Trello Acording to that card when you click on a perk in the DONATION page of our website it is bugged and won't show anything. The last time this card was touched was september, let's keep in mind this our servers only relevant source of revenue. Let's take another issue were v-shop is taking players money without giving them there item, last touched also in september. There are literally hundreds of tasks in trello.

This situation that meep has created in trello is how an endless cycle of procrastination starts. There are little to no dead lines a project needs to be done by an unbearable amount of work on the trello and you guys still accept things and say "added to trello" Lets look at meepcraft times bugs fixed and things added. They added a slower and more tedious process of selecting kits in kitpvp and made boats despawn and mobs not escape the arena. Why the heck are you working on despawning boats instead of fixing the freaking donation tab?!?!

I understand this was a very bold rant and I'm probably gonna get torn apart for writing this, but we can't just say added to trello.

Also one other thing, I made some suggestions in augest and they were accepted one fix was literally move a table in the donor lounge because it made moving around a pain. Here was are almost in 2017 and that hasn't been fixed yet. Courtneyyy said "Literally everything on this suggestion was fixed and/or currently in the process of being handled. Thanks for the suggestion its completed." (I'm not targeting you at all courtneyy your a great admin ) And spawn has still not been touched and that was being worked on, trello is were you send a suggestion to dye.

In all seriousness though I understand what you are saying and these updates take a lot of time because we currently have one tech and te other is currently trial. I agree when it comes to our focus and it does need to focus on the Towny aspect more but since I am a tech I am not sure how difficult changes are because if you muck up the slightest sonething could darn goof.

 

The misconception is Trello was not designed for this size of a server. At the time it came out (for staff purposes only) the server was much larger. The issue isn't Trello, but players demanding too much to be done, not enough staff to do it in a reasonable time, and the staff promising to do too much originally.

 

There is no lack of space in any world. Gamma was made as a reset compromise

 

Thank you for your useful insight again with the new 1:3 meebles conversion rate that you somehow randomly came up with, which never happened.

Anyway, I need to say something constructive so...
Basically you are saying that everyone is too rich because everyone owns towns. I agree. However, this has nothing to do with new town worlds being created. They were intended to be a reset, the only difference being that legacy was kept. The server has to move on when there is almost no way for new players to enjoy. Economy was trash, move on.

With the trello thing, I agree that it is horrendous just looking at it. This is one of the server's weakest aspects. However, if we increase staff there would be no point because who needs staff when half of the server is staff. Exactly.

The only thing they can change now is publicly announce, to everyone, what is exactly going on and estimated time of completion. Soon is not an estimate. The players need to be able to trust the staff. We can't do that because we don't know what's going on!

 

What happened to the rest of the techs? Were some given too high of expectations and workload and left?

 

No mate. They had things to attend to in life, it is pretty easy going for them considering we have had bugger all done the past months but unfortunately problems arise in life and you need to focus on them.

 

When you take a look at the server, the only word to describe it is.... well... depressing. People talk about leaving all the time and how the "old meep was better." Who wants to commit to a server like that?

Most players who join towns are those who have just joined the server and never come back after a few days.

 

Very simple fix then, close suggestions like we closed staff apps for a little. Take care of important issues then make a more manageable system. I understand we are under staffed but that means you need to think of ways to adapt

 

There is no adaption it is a matter of fingers being pulled out of backsides which I dare say may not happen for a while.

 

The community needs to be willing to change.
