Using the logic that since he said it he did indeed do that and that we take him at his word does it not legitimize this behavior? Why should I face any consequences when he can do such a thing, then be elected as President?

on a side note i think if we put cynicism aside, the next four years look pretty good. We have a republican president, house, and senate. Shortly we could see the supreme court there as well. Think about what the government could do with a single party holding that majority.
Also every time we have a "single party" system the stock market tends to flourish, whether its democratic or republican.
