Locking chat

Its Kat again...

Just wanted to suggest that maybe it would be cool to lock chat, like in shout (though still keeping the -100 meeble deduction for spam) or in nation/town chat, or even local.

It'd be very useful.

I think this has been something people have wanted for a long time, but it hasn't been added for a reason. Firstly, I see people making loads of mistakes, and outings dozens of messages in global they believe are going to Local.

So, is it really worth it to add the lock, if we also get even more w/c? I think a lot of people will accidently keep putting the /g or /shout in, too. I'm neither for or against the idea, honestly.

 

That is a valid point, people still may use the original commands, but maybe include a message promoting the use of locking the chat?

i think we should get rid of the 100meeble deduction because it gets really annoying and you lose money when you send 2-3 messages real quickly. i think it could be removed and a warning system/plugin could be added (AdvancedWarn) and whenever someone spams, they get a warning and then at a preset of max warns, you either get a ban or a fine. +1

 

I think it's working okay, No one really spams these days

 

Aside from the deduction, what do you guys think about locking chat?

 

It'd be really annoying and theres like no point in locking chat if its not spam. Maybe you wanted to type a long sentence and you split into two

 

Then maybe not allow locking chat for /shout?

Id rather a fine of 100 meebles than a ban or a fine of 1K after every few warnings.

 

I believe locking chat was removed after MN, would have been July or August. It was a feature I guess they removed because you weren't allowed to shout in CTF there, so I /shout locked and circumvented it. I can only really see problems when someone says something personal in global, but that's human error and inherent with most features on Meep.

This. The fine is horrible when one has to correct a typo they made (especially if it is an urgent one) or otherwise needs to quickly say something.
