What gives a government (or anyone, for that matter) the right to tell me what I can and cannot do?

They have every right to tell you what to do, otherwise the world would be chaos and no one would ever get anything done. People just like to """fight the system"""" because it makes them feel independent and cool and draws attention to themselves when in fact it just makes them a target and an idiot

That doesn't give them any rights whatsoever, though I agree that it's probably best that we have organized into societies with mandatory participation.

I don't fight the system, I question it. Big difference. You're making a big thing about idle speculation, and are getting oddly defensive.

I'm not commenting on you, I'm commenting on people as a whole. It's human nature to want to be an individual by fighting back against a higher power be it government, parents, society, staff on a minecraft server, you name it. And no while they really don't have any god given right to tell you what to do, it's best that people just accept it as how it is and not try and change things ya feel. You'll be a lot happier if you don't try and fight back against stuff like that.

Not necessarily... The foundation of most religions is basically the idea that there is a higher power that you should obey, and religion has been doing very well for millennia.
I never said I wanted to change things. I was just trying to point out that the only reason governments have authority is because they have the 'bigger stick', as it were. Societies aren't as advanced as maybe we'd like to think.

And what if I don't agree with said contracts? Who said I ever agreed in the first place? I do, but the government has been working under this assumption for sixteen years. It'll probably continue working under this assumption for another seventy or eighty.

They gave themselves the right. They had more power than the others and got what they wanted.

Oh. of course not, society isn't advanced at all. Main reason being that people a) want to fix it and b) aren't competent to govern it

So... They had the bigger stick?

Is that a moral or just way to form a government?

    What?

And go where? This exists in every country. It's literally the cornerstone of 'advanced' human governments.

You also have to pay taxes on it, so it's more like you're leasing it.

Read my whole post please. It's 6 sentences long.
Did a man agree to be male just by being born?
Did a person born into poverty agree to be poor just by being born?

As a side note, you owe my your undying loyalty. You agreed to this by being born between the years of 1970 and 2010.
