My PC

After a few years of waiting, I put my baby together on Wednesday, 9/14/16.





Apologies for the terrible image quality. She is rocking a i5 6600k, an Asus GTX 1070, 16 gigabytes of RAM, a 128 gigabyte SSD, and a 3 terabyte hard drive, among other things. I have not attempted an overclock yet. I jumped into a singleplayer Minecraft world and I averaged 500 fps with maxed graphics without optifine or any mods or resource packs. Also, I plan to be back for awhile. I am sorry I abandoned you all. Life has been very busy, and I am in my Senior year of high school. I also work 4 days a week.

I built my first PC two weeks ago, same specs except 250gb SSD and i7 6700k

 

Don't know much about computers, but this looks sick.

Also this is very cliche to say. But you only gave us a minecraft benchmark. Please tell me you will play other games.

 

Probably the same problem as me it took me two years to save up for mine and I had to mow lawns all summer and get cash for christmas just to finish mine but I got lucky because they put alot of the crap on sale around the holidays.

The case is the NZXT Manta. It is a curved case. Supposedly inspired by Ferrari or something. It's $130.

I was waiting to save up. I also knew very little about computers at that time. I do play other games including Doom 2016, which is probably my favorite game ever at this point. I can show some more benchmarks if you are interested.

I'd build A PC but the prices are too steep. I could buy a Mac at their prices. The mac I use costs about 250$ rn (2012) and ir is great, has no lag, but I can't figure out how to set more memory for TF2

 

There are a number of launch commands worth taking a look at. I am not sure if this works or ever worked, but back in the day I would use commands like this to tell TF2 how much ram to use.
1GB RAM: -heapsize 524288

2GB RAM: -heapsize 1048576

3GB RAM:-heapsize 1572864

4GB RAM: -heapsize 2097152

6GB RAM: -heapsize 3145728

8GB RAM: -heapsize 4194304

Use caution as it has been a long time since I messed with TF2 or other Valve games. Also, PC's are very affordable, people just only look at the very expensive ones. Sure mine was around $2k, but very affordable gaming PC's can be built for under $500. Windows is also more optimized for gaming and will give you more performance using the same hardware. It also has a larger amount of games available. This is why few true gamers game on macs.

You could buy (or build) a lot of computers for the price of a new Mac, and they'd be much better. Macs aren't inherently better than PCs just because they're Macs.

Coulda sneaked by with $1300 (and gone with a 980ti instead of a 980, since it's cheaper) if you built it yourself and got rid of all the flashy bits that aren't needed. You don't need a beefy motherboard like that and the watercooler is unnecessary aswell.
