Introduction: Hi, my name is Homer455. Most of you probably know me. I have been on this server since early 2014, but quit in mid 2014, and I have been back since 2015. I have had many ups and downs with this server, so recently I have been thinking to myself "What is the best way for me to give back to the community?" Well, that is becoming a developer!

Please describe your experience as a developer. I have been coding using Lua, HTML, and CSS for around 2 years. I learnt Java, Javascript, Python, PHP, SQL, and Git a year ago. I am currently learning Ruby, BukkitAPI, an OpenGL.

What programming languages are you familiar with? Lua
    PHP
    HTML
    CSS
    Javascript
    Java
    Python
    SQL
    Git
    Ruby*
    BukkitAPI*
    OpenGL*

    * = languages I am currently learning

What are you most proud of as your work as a developer? My post prideful moment of being a developer is getting hired by a local company to create them a website using HTML, CSS, PHP, and Javascript. If you would like to see the website, please message me as it has my location on it.

How do you plan to enrich the experience of MeepCraft with your development contributions? I would love to get suggestions from the community and see what they would like in the server so it can enrich their playing experience, while it will make me feel accomplished at the end of the day. And of course, I would pass these ideas onto the administration before developing the idea.

Do you have a GitHub account or personal website? If so, please provide the link(s) here. GitHub: https://github.com/IndigoSypnopsis

    Website: homer455test.neocities.org

Note: My website is a test site, so it may not look the prettiest!

    Very small app
    seems poorly formated
Introduction doesn't tell me alot about yourself
Techs have so much perms you really need to be mature trust worthy responsible and active, and based off that app you don't meet all those standards.

This isn't really even about the fact that you don't know enough to become a tech its that you're not even trying behavior wise to make yourself look ready for staff. You don't know when to drop a subject, how to look professional, or even how to code on minecraft as far as I can tell; yes, you mailed me your github I saw. When I first started talking to you the day you asked to be a reference I was like huh okay he's acting quite better now and low and behold the next day you were back to goofing off and fooling around and asking for help before you've even tried.

No reason to hate on app, techs don't need to be liked by the community they just need to fix plugins

You should upload some Java to your Github as that is very important for Tech staff and the quality of your work is only really visible in things you have created. Its interesting to see that you are comfortable with Lua, that's not so common anymore but still a pretty cool skill to have.

Also it would be cool to see some of your Python and SQL work, in fact maybe a Java program that makes calls to a database via SQL.

No idea what that guy just said, but it sounded smart, so you better do it.

On a more serious note though, I really wouldn't want you to represent Meepcraft as a tech seeing your ingame behaviour. Work on that buddy. I would expect cool-headed, professional, disciplined acting of a to-be-tech. Don't give me the crap this doesn't matter for a position on the Tech team. It does. You want to represent a business, act like it.

This is a Tech application, not one for other staff. He doesn't need to be liked, he needs to be effective and make plugins. No one cares about that on Techs.
Uhhh...make plugins? Isn't that what tech does?

    +1
    - see you online sometimes
    - seem experienced and could do the job

To be honest, I truly don't think that behaviour matters. Tech isn't going to answer modreqs or control the player behaviour. They code things, and as long as they are good at it, I don't think they need anything else. Also, if I'm being fair, you rarely even see techs talking in global other than reggles, and he only talks a little. +1

Your maturity level has been poor for a very long time, and I would not deem you fit to represent staff in any way. -1

-1, you do have to be more active and trusted in the community because of how many perms you get as tech, I have not seen you in /g at all.

Unorginized (A good coder keeps his/her code organized.) This app is EXTREMELY short.

Ignoring any of my own personal opinions to respond for these, might I remind you a Tech is not representing the server. They honestly don't have to be active in the community, or good in global. They do need to remain professional, I agree, but I'd rather have good programmers as a tech than great community members. A tech's job is simple: program. If they can't do that, then no. Everyone knows we're understaffed on Tech's anyways, so to say "have to be more active in the community" is just another reason people don't apply.

Second, as far as applications themselves go, I agree this is weak. However, this isn't a Helper application. Their job isn't to represent the server to all players, answer modreqs, or moderate global. They aren't out catching hackers or banning scammers. Techs work behind the scenes, and require little to no interaction with anyone.

Now, on to my personal opinion of this application.

Behavior-wise, I think you could definately improve. When we spoke one-on-one, you were very mature and respectful, but hardly at all in Global. This is the only area I really see you needing improvement in at this time: representation. By that, I don't mean representing the server, but how you represent yourself.

    As Spyda said,
Since Java is the main language you will be using, I'd certainly like to see some of yours. In fact, I myself am (somewhat) learning Java, so I believe it'd be beneficial to see another's work too. I have no opinion otherwise until I see some Java.

Honestly, I don't form any kind of relationship with someone because I see them in Global. The best way to get to know people? Try /msg instead.

Does it matter if they keep it organized or not? As long as the coding gets the job done, that's all I need.

Am I supposed to stay on meep 24/7 until you get on? No. It doesn't even matter if I don't chat in global. I rarely see any techs online, let alone chatting in global. I agree with the trusted part, and the active part, but really, I am on this server ATLEAST 8 hours a day. How is that not active? If that isn't considered active in your books, what is?

To #1: Yes it is at least marginally important. Other techs and administrators tend to cooperate on certain projects and need to be able to change and modify the code. If the other techs can't understand your code because of the way you wrote it, then things can get stalled for quite a while.

#2: You don't have to necessarily be online for such a long time, but rather be active in global and forums/TS. Yes, it IS important that you focus on all social aspects if you want any staff rank, including tech, since you still represent meepcraft as a whole.
