Followers of @legendcaleb may know that he recently filed a report against Pebbles for having kill aura, which was denied. @legendcaleb, @DwarFmorf101 and I discussed the idea of specialist hacker-spotters. The idea behind this is that they could be summoned to PvP areas to check suspected hackers and see if they were hacking, or if that's impossible, to verify if a video of someone hacking does, in fact, show a hacker hacking. I have already posted a staff comment about this, and I would like to hear what the Meep general public thinks of this idea. Please comment away.

Who would these hacker-spotters be? And would they be some sort of 'special' staff to watch hackers in PvP areas? Because that idea has been denied many times already.

Yet the only people who -1 it are staff who feel disrespected by the suggestion and people who have no clue how pvp works.

I don't think the staff feels disrespected by the suggestion, I don't know where you get that idea from? Anyway, I don't really see a need for this because there is usually only up to 10 people in kitpvp on a good day. And if you want to catch hackers you can either record them like Caleb did and report them on the forums or get a staff in-game to deal with them.

And if these hacker-spotters became a thing, they'd need mod+ perks to be able to perm ban someone who was hacking .

Are you friggin kidding, like of all the examples, you pick legendcalebs report?! He literally had to report him like, 10 times before he got taken seriously.

Say I'm in kitpvp, I'm fighting people, Im not a particularly good at kitpvp, but Im trying to get better, so when a hacker comes I can modreq, and then after about 5 minutes I get out my recording stuff, I have literally 100+ hackers recorded who I don't report, because If I was fighting in kitpvp, and often I have to beg in global for 3-4 citizens to show up, If I get up and leave to report, file the report, get back on, the hackers got bored and left, and the other people who I got to come left, so now I'm all alone in kit, my kill streak is broken, I have learned nothing about pvp, and the hacker I got banned doesn't even matter because they likely will never come back to meep as its much more fulfilling to hack on a server with more people, but you know, I got some dipwad hacker banned, yay me.

These suggestions will always be denied because the staff team still thinks it can create a balanced staff team however it's clear at this point that it's not really working because from helper to admin a lot of the staff team still is inexperienced

I wasn't picking his report in particular like that, only by the video.

Right but that video didn't have "sufficient proof" even though it was quite clearly hacking, they should get actual pvp-ers to check, There are some hacks that I bet I could download and do on meep and never get banned so long as I didn't video myself, good pvp-ers would be able to tell legit players from cheaters.

Yea the video with Pebbles was hacking but honestly I just think staff should step up their game when it comes to Hackers in pvp. I mean, that's part of their Helper or whatever job.

Well we have seen evidence that this wont happen, as legit players still get banned and hackers can get off easily, The fact that this suggestion has come up multiple times means that they haven't stepped up there game.

Half of staff members don't even know what kill aura looks like, let alone blink, autoclicker, crit hacks, and bowAimbot.
Most are just busy banning EU players for "reach"

as has been proven multiple times (seriously just go through a lot of good pvp-ers ban appeals) if a good pvper goes on an alt and does exeptionally well they get banned for hacks, if staff don't think that the good pvp-ers are hacking when there donors but do think there hacking when there citizen, we need better pvp staff, the whole reason pebbles is getting such outcry is because he is nice, he is cool, he is funny, he is also a hacker, the only people who can't see it are people who are trying not to see it.

I think what he is going for is not a staff member, but when it comes to banning/reporting a hacker they have someone who is experienced in the field with hackers and legit players to confirm if thy player is hacking. Sometimes the bans for hackers aren't handled by the most pvp ready staff members. Almost like a two step verification, first check with the special hacker reporter then check with the rest of staff. I don't think they would have any new perms on anything other than maybe like replying to hacker ban appeals/reports really just a go to person for staff.

Dividing staff into specializations is never a good idea. Staff should be trained to adequately moderate all scenarios, and wrong bans should lead to punitive measures.

I know almost literally nothing about PVP, and I never had a hacking ban overturned because I used common sense and due diligence.

Then they should work on pvp more, get people who are knowledgeable in the area to train them how to spot hackers.

I always thought the idea of PvP staff was terrible. Rather than divide the team, I would suggest have 2-3 current staff members who know PvP handle all hacking reports. These 2-3 would still be normal staff, but would handle all the hack reports on the forums. If there's a hacker in kit, any staff member should be able to handle that.
The biggest problem with the Pebbles thing was staff members were constantly changing it. It looked like the staff team was at war with itself. Basically, most of the staff could use a little more time in the arena.

We already have a few people on the team who are pretty well conditioned to handle hacking reports. The Pebbles case happened mainly due to miscommunication. We hope to grow from that. At this time we don't feel a need for a separate team for Pvp only, mainly because 9/10 times we make the right call. Mistakes happen. Thanks but this is denied.
